My dad was a pilot. He always said that there is absolutely no good reason to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft.

I have to agree with him.

Cool!!

We had to head up to Wyoming, shortly after I heard about it, and just got back.

From the article:

Coincidentally, Baumgartner's attempted feat also marked the 65th anniversary of U.S. test pilot Chuck Yeager successful attempt to become the first man to officially break the sound barrier aboard an airplane.

How cool is THAT. Wonder if he had some Beemer's with him.

^ HAHA Lars, that's Beemen's... (well, loan me a stick)

Did anybody see the footage of this? The guy was spinning quite a bit,

looked scary.

You're right.

My little brother called in BEEMERS when we were kids, a bit of a memory slip on my part.

I think it is awesome....extreme sports are exhilarating!

Competitiveness...luv it! He took the year or so to fine tune all the details, then he had the guts (ego) to do it......to be the FIRST person every to go sonic without a space craft...just him and a suit. WOW! That had to be an awesome experience!

Many would call him eccentric...and perhaps he is ~ but he accomplished his goal.

He set a new record...and for some that is what it is all about.

Great job Fearless Felix!

:yh_clap

Better you then me!

So, just out of curiosity, what would it sound like to the guy as he broke the sound barrier?

I still believe the old motto:

If at first you don't succeed -- Don't try skydiving
