I've never noticed Facebook particularly, but last night I was talked into signing up. I had no friends overnight. I now have two.

It's the most intrusive site I've ever seen. It wants to know who I know. It tells me who other people know, some of whom I'm familiar with. It wants to tell all those people what I'm doing. Why on earth does anyone cooperate with the place?

I've had to slacken off an assortment of privacy settings just to get my browser to tolerate some associated parts of the site. I've been adding small incremental permissions, none of which I want to allow. My hairs have been stood up on the back of my neck all afternoon.

Does anyone here use pinterest? It's the fastest growing social site in the last year, but although I've looked at it a few times for work, I can't figure out the attraction.

a lady at work was going on and on about trying new hair styles and then posting pics of them. she loves the site..

go figure...

someone point me to something on there that fascinates you.

I have a Facebook account due to my having a daughter in America and one in Scotland.

Every time I log in I get deluged with requests or invitations to things I have no wish to join.

Then every time I go to my emails I get status updates of everyone that has logged on to Facebook since last I was there........one just says 'Hi everyone'

If I don't log on for a couple of days I get a welcome back message.

I think I need to tweak my settings

(And what is the etiquette when ones ex wife asks to be rated as family ? )
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

I think I need to tweak my settings I admit that all of that drives me mad also.

I am primarily on facebook because like you, I have family all over the place. Most of my friends are racing people and It's a useful tool In that respect.

There seems to be a new thing now where they show what one of your friends has just said to someone they are friends with but you are not. There may be people who care but I'm not one of them.

I have to agree with Spot though... It's become more and more Intrusive. I even took my own sister off my friends for strangers gawping at what she'd written due to the antics of her son.

However, there Is a new App now you can download that tells you exactly who's been snooping In your profile every day.... amazing what that throws up !!!!

And yes, I admit It... I play farmville.... It helps me unwind at night...

Just because I'm on a forum with people doesn't mean I want them as a facebook friend either. As my family are on my facebook, I have to trust someone first. I learnt my lesson when I accepted a friend request and he turned out to be a raving loony from the EDL... mind you, I keep him on just for the laughs.

Accepting friend requests, you have to bear In mind, they will have access to your family and bullcrappers get found out very quickly.

I've dropped the F bomb a few times but I generally "share" cute and/or funny animal photos or something weird from work. I just posted a link to HH Holmes and wondered why Jack the Ripper is more famous and better remembered. I'm eclectic.

Mine's all old school mates, college mates, uni mates and random other friends. Only got two members of my family on there, my son and a grown up nephew. I rarely update my status, who's interested :wah: I get sick of reading some people's every minute thought processes and what they had for breakfast, dinner and tea or breakfast, lunch and dinner if you're posh.

There are a lot of disturbing things about facebook. There are a lot of disturbing things about leaving your house every day. There is a learning curve in how to use social media that I haven't quite rounded but at least facebook makes more sense than twitter.

Mind you, I haven't mis-rounded my understanding as much as some twits do: Police look into Victoria mosque threats

I do like this chatty little thread.

I use FB to keep in touch with my family who live far from me. I play a game or two on there too. I did discover that the games use alot of memory. Since I've gotten my new computer, I've had no problems.

I don't Twitter. ;)

Facebook keeps making the most socially inept suggestions of people I might like to try befriending. My word yes. Were Facebook human I'd take it aside for a quiet word.

I have absolutely no idea whether I've adjusted its settings in a satisfactory fashion, I can see no way of moving component parts or adding third party assemblies. I am, should anyone want to criticize, https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004214318898
