Martin Fleischmann, RIP

What an odd thing cold fusion was, the notion that nuclei could fuse due to the proximity of resonant surroundings. The alternative mechanism for the energy given off by the various cold fusion experimental setups was that the substrates were in some way primed up with all that energy and released it in the presence of what was supposed to be being fused which is equally wild as a notion. I'd prefer to believe either of those than that the two of them deliberately faked their work though. Fleischmann and Pons were reputable and the experiments wrecked their careers.

One day we might find out what underlay the phenomenon. I do hope so.
