Spot, what happens when you hear a new born baby cry? Or touch a leaf? Or see the sky?

I'll be peeved if anyone pretends that's purely coincidental.

He sang better than I do. He might even have sung better than you.

What about all the ones that get flattened? Oh sorry you have a drought down there don't you. Go stand under a shower and pretend you are in scotland just now.

Sorry, I meant his version of the theme tune. I can still remember the opening shots of Champion...can't remember what happened a few days ago, but that horse is as clear as a bell

Both of our statements are testable to the same degree of statistical significance. Your feeling will prove to be out by fewer orders of magnitude than my belief. I expect we'd find that, on average, for every belly button shown on MTV around a hundred viewers have a beer - we'd need to clarify initially that you were talking about active viewers and not just the general world population since only one in a hundred million beers is drunk by an MTV viewer sat in front of the channel. My belief, by contrast, is wildly inaccurate - for every flower that grows at least a hundred billion raindrops fall. I include inflorescent grasses among the flowering plants, of course.
My belief and your feeling can each be tested by repeatable investigation supported by statistical significance. So can religious belief and feeling, though it appears unfashionable to do so. The untestable aspect of religion is the meaning of the vocabulary, that's down to agreed definitions. People seem extremely reluctant to attempt to agree definitions when it comes to creating a common religious vocabulary. On the other hand, if a religious group did formalize such definitions it might exclude a lot of its membership from continuing within that group.
I may restart this thread as a doctrinal discussion under Christianity, with a large warning in the opening post saying that any statement of fact by the posters will be totally ignored as irrelevant if it relies on belief in order to be self-evidently true.

It wasn't me !!!
One doesn't require a boarding pass to hang glide, does one ?
You started it !!
The second line is "I believe I can touch the sky"...........Now ....that is questionable.
I believe we were talking about lyrics, and you have gone all serious.
