The great King Hammurabi (1948-1905 BC) had a code that defined the concept of the medical profession's criminal liability. Article 215 said ... "If a doctor cures a patient he shall be paid, but if the patient died, the doctor's hands were cut off."

I'm guessing that by 1905 BC there was a serious shortage of doctors in Babylon!

Or on the other hand, as my attorney always says when he's telling me I have no chance of winning our case, there might have been a serious supply of very skillful ones!
