a new survey of how far women have achieved their rights and other matters like how many have reached high positions in government, healthcare, etc, has put Britain 8th out of 58 countries, higher than the USA and most European competitors. Ironically, equal pay and equal rights at work weren`t quite as good in Britain and that held it back to 8th place, but they did score points for `women in high positions` (the Evil One as PM from 79-91). Ex-Soviet countries performed well because women and men always did similar if not identical work for similar pay rates under the old `communist system`. As always, however, treat statistics warily, since under the criteria used, Zimbabwe with its oppressive regime actually came out higher than some European countries
