I scored 8 out of 11 so hopefully my table manners abroad wouldn't cause WWIII although possibly a miffed waiter or two!

I got them all.

The ones that are probably really important are the China one and the Iran one.

In China, they will work very hard to feed you until you cannot eat anymore. Every time you empty your plate they will bring more food, so don't ever TRY to clean you plate.

In much of the Middle East, eating with your left hand is horrifying. So if your a southpaw, practice eating with you right hand before you go.

The left hand is used for the other end.

Here in The States, we make fun of folks trying to eat Fried Chicken with a knife and fork.

Same with Barbecue Ribs.

But now I know how to solve that problem when hosting Brits. Just leave the utensils in the drawer.

Never thought of that before, actually.

I think you will find Spot is teasing you a bit.

If I'm in a restaurant, I use a fork to eat fried chicken but I don't do that at home. I'm not as prissy at home!

I can't even imagine eating Fried Chicken with a knife and fork.

Same with Corn on the Cob. or Baby Back Ribs.

I don't even allow the cob to reach the table. In the kitchen I take the freshly cooked cob and, with sharp knife and a meat fork, trim all the corn before lightly buttering it. The cob goes into the bin, the corn to the dining hall.

I often eat with my hands.

My wife's staple is sadza, a maizemeal porridge that is always eaten by rolling into a bitesize ball and taken with the meat.

If there are visitors it is traditional to pour water over their hands from a jug into a collecting bowl, rather than all dipping into the same bowl to clean their hands.

The Bangladeshi's use the Naan bread to scoop the food up with their hands or role the meat Into the rice to make a bite size ball. Similar to the sadza, they also eat with a Tarka Dal dish of lentils. At the table they have a can of warm water that they dribble over the hands for the cleaning of the hands.

Somebody would figure out you're not such a bad guy, after all, and invite you over for tea.

You wouldn't want to imagine the consequence of such incautious behavior.
