Family or friends?

Would you pick family over friends?

I would not.

In my opinion:

A good relationship is not defined whether you are blood related or not.

I would rather pick a very good friend that I know I could count on for the rest of my life then a blood relative I hate.

Thankfully, I have an awesome family that I can honestly say that I would not need to choose a friend over them....I am thankful for my friends too....some of them are like family members to me! :)

I must be blessed. I have the best family anyone could ask for. We are fiercely loyal to each other.

Then, I have wonderful friends also.

Yeah I guess Family Is easier to bribe :wah: but I'm more interested in people I can rely on, does not matter if they are family or friends.

I must say according to most I would be considered a bad friend. I do not engage in hour long phone calls, make-up and hair sessions and do not like gossiping.

I prefer the friend (or family member) you havn't talked to in years that you could suddenly phone with a problem, who'd listen to you and not point out you havn't talked to them in years. + of course I would do the same for them.

Then again I must say (i know a lot of people) I only have 3 friends. My friend from school (known her for 14 years now), and my mum and dad.

Yeah that might be sad, but I'd rather engage and spend time with people I can rely on, then have people I sort of know that are only around when it suits them.

Well, when it comes to moving, I pick family.

I only have two friends, but lots of family.

If you're talking about hanging on a island in the South Pacific, then I would go with friends.

Most of my family gets bored with me after a day or two.

hahaha yeah I guess so but i'm boring, don't do holidays to nice warm countries! Don't do holidays full stop I guess.. last time I went was more then 10 years ago. In october I went to Irelend for a week but that was to help out my brother. (last moment thing).

I just have a problem (mostly) getting on with people "my age". So maybe thats why I know lots of people but just befriended one.

It would depend entirely on which individual friend and which individual family member I'd be choosing between for the hypothetical question. I don't feel the same way across the board about everyone, blood related or otherwise.

If it were a collective decision, family versus friends, I honestly can't say for sure because it's hard to imagine a life void of either group!
