Poor woman !!!

Many years ago my Father was leaving the then Goldstone Ground, home of Brighton and Hove Albion after the match and was just at his car when the same thing happened.

A Police Officer saw my Father swaying and assumed he was drunk but on approaching him, had the sense to see that something was seriously medically wrong.

That Officer called an Ambulance and my Father was rushed to hospital and survived. The Officer even took my Fathers car keys from his hand and while he was on his way to hospital, the Officer parked my Fathers car In the next street so it was not a sitting duck for vandals.

How times change?

That was many years ago when Police Officers seemed to actually care about people and had some common sense along with the days when we actually had a team In the second division.

So non medically trained police can't tell the difference between someone having a stroke and someone who is drunk when confronted by a single parent apparently sleeping it off on her doorstep. As the daily mail is so fond of pointing out single parents are causing all the problems in society and everyone knows they spend all their benefit money on drink or drugs. You would probably be cheering on social services taking the child away from such a useless parent and calling for her benefits to be stopped. Can't wait till the daily mail start calling for the poor houses to be brought back for people like her.

Make up your mind the police are either too soft on wasters or inconsiderate bastards as the mood takes you.

Whatever problems SOME young single Mums present to society, In this case, I just feel that whatever the police thought, they should have called an ambulance there and then. Should she be deemed drunk at the hospital by trained medical staff, then to take her son away would have been appropriate. However, at the time, the police made the wrong assumption and Police do not have the right to make assumptions simply because they are not medically trained.

They decided to play god and assume she was drunk and that's what Is wrong here.... Plod making assumptions.

Here they call it using 'discretion'. and yet time and time again over the years I was told by plods...We're not social workers...We're not psychologists.....We're not their parents ...We're not the judge .......hhhhhmmmmmmmm.
