Hubby and I bought them in east Tennessee and transplanted them in our front yard. We don't remember what they are called. Help!

The pink one Is a Hibiscus. Identifiable by the long stamen.

I just cross referenced the yellow one on the net. Looks like Hibiscus also.

the pink one is a hibiscus, you have to go to a nursery and find out it it is a 'hardy' species. ..If it is as most including myself own them, you have to bring them inside of your home in late Sept, placing it in a cool environment upstairs, and out of all light.

then only in winter months, gently water only....

In spring set it back outside...bring it in again when temperature dips down.

If your unable because its the large tree type you cant keep bringing it in and out.....then start in May and place it full sun in a room with full sun, water daily and by July or maybe June, put it back outside.

also ask if its a tropical species.......they don't come back.

The flowers are not important. Lets get that lawn in shape..:wah:

The yellow one is either Rose of Sharon or another one and I can't remember its name both loose there flowers and produce seeds....these seeds will be in pods...gently open up each pod and gently take the seeds out..dry them off and clean all gently

and clear them of all debris.....place them in paper towel once you have died them off with a paper towel..........then place into a locked tight zip-lock bag.

next May, use fresh top soil and gently push the seeds down no further than1/2 inch....water gently........and every day thereafter...it takes time for them to start growing......so have patience...when they start growing..water normally and if its hot, water everyday day until bloom time. They will grown twice as big next year then the one you showed here.....as in reality even though they are not called perennials, which come back bigger every year, they are sill considered 'perennials' because they do come back each year.

My husband would have had the entire lot full of concrete by now.

I think you are right, oscar. The lady we bought the flowers from mentioned the name several times. Thank you all for your replies.

Yup. Both are Hibiscus.

Wish I could get some to survive Colorado Winters.

They can survive short cold spells, and even the occasional frost, but an extended hard freeze will do them in.

Sounds like they should do well here in our southeast Georgia climate.

It's now the middle of October, and the flowers are still blooming. What a wonderful souvenir from our summer trip to the mountains! :-6
