House of Lords Reform

Post by spot »

I'm not going to copy it here but I watched a certain amount the other day and found one of the finest contributions to Parliamentary debate I've heard since Gorgeous George tore into the Labour administration in 2003.

Perhaps people might enjoy reading it - click here and take in the contribution of Lord St John of Fawsley (which is the current style of Norman St John Stevas as was). Flawless delivery, not a hesitation that wasn't intentional and (of course) no notes at all.

It's a pearl, a quarter of an hour of undiluted pleasure. Would that the current Labour front bench had anyone as capable. Though thinking about it they've had the option of David Lammy for years, he'd do a far better job as party leader than the current shambolic stumbler. But I digress.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.
