Let me try to grasp this, I may well have it completely wrong. I do hope I have.
The Bronx Zoo has lost a 20 inch adolescent Egyptian cobra but stays open to the public while they continue to look for it?
This is the "death due to complete respiratory failure" Egyptian cobra we're talking about? The sort that killed Cleopatra?
I'm amazed. Words fail me.

Actually, I believe it was an Asp that took Cleopatra out.

You have it right just amazing. I guess they will have an idea of where it might be when either a person, or a rare animal at the Zoo drops dead.

The 20in (50cm) adolescent Egyptian cobra was believed confined to a non-public area of the reptile house at New York City's Bronx Zoo.
Zoo officials said snakes seek closed-in spaces and are uncomfortable in open areas.
The zoo closed the reptile house "until further notice".
Don't see the problem.

The problem is they haven't found it yet. They believe it was "confined to a small area" somehow is just a bit vague for my liking.

It's in the "Reptile House"
Or someone stole it. IF that's the case, it's not in the zoo anymore.

I don't see a problem with leaving the Zoo open. This snake like all snakes is not going to ATTACK.

Exactly. Little guy is hiding under some nice warm rocks somewhere.

Those that are worried about the Zoo staying open have not handled snakes or had any experience with them and their fear though real, is not necessary.

Why they're allowed to keep Weapons of Mass Destruction in the first place, that's what I don't know. And before you say "oh it's nobbut a snake" consider the anti-terror charges I'd be up on if I were caught carrying that on a guided tour of the White House.

I don't think they have caught it yet, haven't heard another news story on it.

even though they say it's contained in the reptile compound, you wouldn't catch me visiting the zoo.
They told visitors to watch their ankles.

Very proper too. That's a considerable relief all round. Not that I thought it could swim the Atlantic or anything, but there's an airport not far from the Zoo.
