Ever try lucid dreaming? Try this....just as you wake up from the dream and it's still sharp in your mind, tell yourself, "I am in control of this dream", then quickly go back to sleep. You can actually gain control of your subconscious.
the other night, I was being chased by gangsters, I had no weapon. I did this, then when I went back to the dream, I realized I could do whatever I wanted. I could give myself a gun, I could give myself a force screen...I could even vanish the chasers and create a swimming pool to go swimming in.

I do this. I love it! I love to go back to the dreams...and control (to some extent) how they end. Although I have heard it is impossible to do this...I have. Or maybe that was all just a dream?

Absolutely not...it's in all the psychology textbooks. I've been doing it for decades. I also like to remember my dreams and start of the next night where I left off the previous night. It's easy, just make a concerted effort to remember right when you wake up.
I've got two or three dreams running right now. I pick the one I want at bedtime.

now that is interesting, Jives. You can keep your dreams going for days? When I find a good one...I'm going to have to write it down and try that!

Every night before my birthday I have this dream that there are creatures outside my window (they look like the creatures out of Jackson's Thriller video) and they are chanting "you will never live to see your next birthday!" ewww....freaks me out every time. I need to take control of that dream and blast them all with a big gun!

I'm running through back gardens and jumping hedges and I'm being followed by a very small person approx. 36" tall. I think its a man but to be honest I don't really know. He is completely white, almost etheral and featureless. I run and jump and so does he but he does not catch me. I don't want him to catch me but again I don't know why. Should I stop and turn around or keep on running?
I would keep running...good exercise.

I always had the same dream....
I was driving in my red mustang that I had in high school.. There were 2 little girls in my car- in car seats..I went over a creek and suddenly was washed away..Under the water the girls were crying to me..I was trying to unbuckel their car seats and couldn't...Finally I went up for air and then back down again and kept trying - then I had to give up.....I had this dream for years....and when my first 2 children (both girls) were born - just 18 months apart - they were both of course in car seats.. I was driving a red Ford LX at the time..and when ever it would rain I wouldn't go ANYWHERE with the kids alone.. I never did ever figure out -and now I don't have it anymore...

Since you've tried running I would next try turning around. Of course you have to lucid dream to make that decision.
Is he a garden gnome? Sounds like it. They're not very scary. Mind you I've never been chased by one.

Do dreams have any significant meanings?
I have this re-occurring dream of me flying in the air without wings. I can fly right over high trees, mountains, fly over cities. I wake up being exhausted everytime. I can also lucid that dream. I can wake up in the middle of it and fall back to sleep dreaming the same thing.
For part-time work, I do contracts for home improvements with various clients and give away the work to sub-contractors and take what I can on finders fees. I was in a contract discussion with an owner to remodel her home. A very big contract involving large amouts of money. The night before we were to sign the contract, I had a dream that my brother was upset with me over some land we purchased together, and he snatched it right from under me. I woke up in the middle of the night because this dream stood out above all my other dreams. The next day I called my brother, and everything was in order with our agreements, but when I went to the contract signing. I had lost the job to someone else.
Similar dreams have happen to me with noticeable results either the very next day, or in the immediate future. I am wondering if there is a study where dreams of various forms mean spicific things.

Ya'll can go ahead and laugh at me but I had the worst dream last night. I woke up 2 times from it and every time I went back to sleep - it was still happening!!! Now you want to know what it was about? My dream was that we had sold our house and I could NOT take my stove/oven. You have to understand that when I built my kitchen I bought a 6 burner gas stove (3 burners on high - 3 burners on sautee) the entire top made from cast iron so I can do my summer canning - WITH an oven big enough to cook 2 turkeys in turkey pans. The oven has 8 cycles from bake to warm to cbroil and convection option at every point. THE NIGHTMARE - I moved into the new house and had a 4 burner electric stove that would barely handle one turkey pan.
