Big shoes to fill and I hope I'm up to it. I've been writing fairy tales in my spare time to bone-up for the job.

There seems to be a complete area of news reporting and commentary devoted to the "attack the man not the message" school of journalism. Personally I think it smacks of laziness and a recognition that one has a far less legitimate position than the other guy, and arguments that won't stand scrutiny.
