Does anyone use this? I ordered a software program, to see if it works. I think it would be useful to people who have to write alot.

I've never tried it and would be interested in hearing your opinion on it once you try it out.

Does it work if you have a cold? I sound much different in the morning than I do during the rest of the day. It takes me about an hour to form words properly. lol

I get it on Wednesday, I figure it will take me a few days to figure it out-like anything else techno-savy. But what are vacations for anyway!

Sounds pretty cool.

After you figure out how to install it, I'd make sure you can turn it off when you're not using it or you might create some pretty funny documents when you're not looking. :wah:

Most new PC's and Laptops come with "Speech Recognition" software I tried it on my Laptop it works you have to set up all the commands so it knows what your want done. When you write(or speak a document) you have to use punctuation in your speech or it just becomes a mess. :)

I've used it. Dragon Dictate, if I remember right. What did you buy?

Voice dictation is extremely accurate, fast (compared with my typing anyhow - I can type perhaps 60 wpm but I can dictate at double that speed), it needs personal training and you have to talk as though you mean it. Like you were parodying a 50s radio broadcast perhaps. And it needs a good specialist dictionary if you're straying off the beaten track. And he who hesitates is lost.

Oh, that is what I ordered. That sounds good to me. I can type very fast, but it the constant juggling of books and resources-and interruptions that slows me down. I thought if I had everything outlined, like my lectures, it would go alot faster at writing.

Oh, the software works great, I can now just sit there and blab and it types away!

That's wonderful, I'm glad you're getting something out of it.

What does that version cost? I can remember when it was around $600 a copy.

Oh my gosh spot, I paid $63 for it on amazon.com! I had to get a better headset, but everything was under $90 including 2 day shipping! It is the latest version, 11.

How have you got on, Chonsi? Is it being useful? Are there any aspects that have started to annoy you yet?

It works pretty well, has adapted to specialized names and spells them correctly. It makes sentences, paragraphs, etc the way I want them to do, with command.

It is now a matter of sitting down to write more, but with summer coming soon that will happen.
