Mine is tomorrow. Can't decide if it's better to see the people I work with after hours or worse. It can easily go either way when booze is free.

I never go to any work related parties, never hang with fellow workers after hours. I hear stories of their parties, and for a bunch of teachers, I'm shocked enough at that!
And really hate that facilty dues goes to subsidize these events.

We have lunch catered about a week before Christmas, where I work. Santa comes by to visit. Once everyone is settled with their food back in their department Santa starts pulling names from his sack for the 80 or so 'door prizes'. folks love winning the snow shovels and poinsettias, containers of cub scout popcorn and Kathryn beich candies that management has bought from our kids school fundraisers in the preceding month or so.
Between this event and Christmas, we have the department parties. Each department puts on a spread for the rest of us. There are already two on the calendar.
But I don't do any after work parties. I have neither the time nor the inclination to view my co-workers in a different light.:wah:

This one turned out pretty safe. The restaurant shut down at 9:30, shortly after the shots of tequila started.

Amen to that, Chonsi. It's not that all the teachers are real drudges, some of them are pretty cool, but hanging out at a party with a "moral turpitude" clause over your head is sheer career suicide. Just recently two teachers I knew lost their jobs for throwing a party and allowing some students to attend. How dumb can you be? Never let your personal life and professional life cross I always say.

Unless its the girls going out for "Happy Hour" I never attend office parties never been to one that didn't have everyone talking the next day. If you do have to go, sometimes management has to show up, don't drink, and leave early.

I always hated work parties. I enjoyed many that I worked with, don`t get me wrong, but I spent more waking hours with them than I did with my family at times! LOL!
I enjoy the occasional get together, informal ones are the best.
