I have Microsoft Works word processing package but I can't really do a lot with it. Would like to put on Microsoft office word 200 on. If I install that, and take off works, would it take up much space until I can copy over from Works to Word? Many thanks

Try open office, you will be able to convert all your documents no problem, you will also be able to save as MS office if you need to or as pdf if you are sending them to anyone. It's much much better than MS office and open source.

I use Office 2007 at work and have it on my laptop. I have a netbook with no disk drive, & came across Open Office. It's every bit as good as Office 2003, and can save in Office format. If you already have purchased Word, I'm sure you have plenty of hard drive space to take both programs.

Hi thanks. I like word because you can highlight different paragraph's and number the pages. With Works you can number the pages, but it doesn't do it very well. Anyone heard of a website called 'Software for students'?

I love Word. This new one is hard to navigate because it's so different, though. Very powerful.

What's the difference between word 2010 and the one that was on office 2007?

Is there a 2010?? I hadn't heard. 2007 does way more than I need. Heck, 2003 does more than I need, that's why I'm happy with Open Office. I reads any Word document and looks & acts just like Word. The only drawback is that you need to remember to save the document as a Word document if you're going to use it in another computer that only has Word. Other than that, you won't notice the difference ... until you check your bank account & see it still has your money in it. :yh_wink

2010 sucks big time. 2007 just sucks. Why programmers feel the need to rearrange crap on the menus is beyond me. I suppose the notion is that if you are busy being grateful for finally finding crap that isn't where it used to be you'll forget to notice how much hasn't changed except that menu.

Open office is the way to go.

Open office is the way to go.Cool! Its nice to see people recognize and acknowledge the efforts and accomplishments of open source software. Just as Open Office is the way to go, open source operating systems such as Ubuntu are as well. You'll save a bundle of headaches - and money too, plus, if you bother to acquaint yourself with the open source community, you will meet some of the most wonderfully interesting and dedicated people you'd want to.
