It's no wonder we Brits are obsessed by it. Thursday bloody freezing, raining hail etc. Saturday and especially Sunday roasting hot not a cloud in the sky, yesterday sun, thunderstorms and now I am looking out of my office window at rain bucketing down and it's cold too. I need some sun. OK rant over :D

Seconded. Enjoyed Sunday really hot and looking forward to Monday similarly (as they`d promised more of same). Yep, it was okay, apart from the heavy showers now and again! British weather, huh!

We're still having frosty nights in Missouri. Its supposed to be warm, warm, warm, this time of year in Missouri. I've got about 20 potted plants all around my house and garage because it keeps getting to the 32 degree mark at night.

Was on holiday on malta, to quote one of the natives "it must be wonderful to live somewhere the weather varies, here it's always sunny and too hot"

Today I almost cooked in my car driving, now the rain is bouncing off the grass, what's wrong with variety, to quote Bily Connolly, there is no such thing as bad weather only the wrong clothing. Now there's thunder what fun!

Don't mention the rain, have you never noticed every time someone says they think it's going to rain it does talking about it attyracts it stop doing it.

Britain lies around the 55 degree latitude line which is quite far north so you can't expect long periods of warm sunny weather. It is also a maritime climate rather than a continental one so it will also be very changeable.

But you have the Gulf Stream effect which keeps the winters mild (and summers cool)

Here in southern Pennsylvana we are only around 39 degrees north and with no Gulf Stream moderating effect so our summers are much hotter than yours and our winters much colder.

The seasons are predictable though so we know what to expect and when to expect it.

Be thankful you don't have any tornados, hurricanes, 3-foot snowfalls or winter storms of freezing rain to coat everywhere with a 3-inch layer of ice!

Here - the temperature can rise (and fall) by up to 20 degrees in as many minutes!

Surely the answer to Bothwell's predicament is staring us in the face!

Instead of trying to lure our foremost law enforcement officer away to live in England and endure this "bloody British weather" he should come here to the U.S. and he and LC can live happily ever after in Florida.

This would take care of several problems at a stroke.

1. Escape from the apparently dreadful climate

2. Enable us to stand down our search for him as he attempts to enter the country in disguise in his efforts to seize LC.

3. Have an idyllic life with LC - in one of the world's great climates (apart from the odd hurricane or two).

I'm sure if we talk nicely to Condi Rice she will look kindly upon an application for permanent immigrant status.

I believe that this suggestion merits Bothwell's most earnest and serious consideration.

It's full of foreigners you know. You can always tell the continentals by the way they step of pavements (that's sidewalk to you) in front of you looking the wrong way. When you balst your horn you can tell the nationality, The English make rude signs and tell you to F*&k off (till they hear a scots accent, for some reason they seem convinced we're a bunch of psychotic nutters) the French glower and ignore you crossing the road anyway, the germans are terribly polite and get out the way but look down their noses at you, the Spanish don't notice anything, the Italians leap back on to the pavement quivering wrecks, Americans generally haven't a clue (not quite grasping that we drive on the left) what just happened but are invariably convinced it's up to them to sort it out. :sneaky:

A team of researchers has come up with a plan of action to finally put an end to the problem of Bothwell's "bloody British weather"

PLAN 'A' Divert the Gulf Stream away from Britain. This willl have the effect of warmer and more settled summers but the downside is much colder winters.

At the same time arrange to move the whole place approximately 12 degress south to a more equitable climate zone.

PLAN 'B' If Plan 'A' is deemed too impractible or would take too long (it might take several millenia to complete the moving part of the plan) then simply build a roof over the entire country.

Note - Detailed drawings available upon application.

Plan and associated blueprints fully protected by copyright.
