By reading the comments, the tamer appears to receive no sympathy.
The sympathy vote goes to the lion. (I'll agree with that)
I think the footage is from a member of the audience' Mobile Phone Camera.

Do you remember the lion roaring at the beginning of all the old MGM films?
Apparently he killed his trainer the day after that was filmed.
(There ya go - a bit of useless trivia for you.

Siegfried and Roy comes to mind! Animals are always "wild", no matter how well trained they may seem!

I find It un-acceptable In these times of so many endangered species, that exotic animals are still being used as financial revenue.
Do you know how much restraint I have to show every year when my Fox family bring their babies to me all tiiny little balls of black and dark brown fluff resembling little brown bears?
At a few weeks old, they will approach you blindly with out fear and one could easily scoop one up for a hug but I stop myself because I respect their wild Instincts.

Perhaps the audience seeing this, will now help to get rid of circuses forever.
NO one can predict what a wild animal will do at any time.
These animals in circuses are treated inhumanely and it has to stop!
I'm appauled how they so-call train their elephants with whips and chains tied around their feet.
