Bad form all round - The Liberace Museum is closing down.

Members are invited to post their thoughts and reminiscences. I almost wrote "their impressions" but honestly, no, don't try that.

Sad but if the number of visitors are so few it's not economically viable to keep open then I guess it's inevitable. At least the Foundation will keep going.

Not many people other than us 'golden oldies' will even know his name sadly.

anyway...he was a true showman and a 'one off'.

May I indulge slightly?

YouTube - 1969 Liberace Show El Cumbanchero/Cumana/Malaguena

Note that he doesn't hog all the credit either.

He was a credit to his country, America should be proud to have had him.

I mostly remember him for his beautiful piano playing, his smile, and his devotion to his mother.

There weren't multitudes of TV channels to watch in the 'old days' so there weren't that many entertainment choices. I loved his piano playing and his showmanship.....he bought a lot of glitz and glamour to the small screen.

This is sad news! Last February, because of my sister-in-law having been a huge fan pof his, I had the good fortune to see this museum and hear a tribute to him, played on one of his gorgeous pianos, by the music director of Jersey Boys. The museum has many of his pianos, robes & suits that he wore for his shows, autos he owned. The visitors were allowed to be photographed in one of the robes which I did and if I can figure out how to post it here, I will.
