Well, since our church is in transition and having a new building constructed, my daughter has to think of another venue for the occassion in a year. She went to a bridal show this weekend, and came home with some great ideas. The current one is this:

Their first date was to go to a movie.

Wedding venue: The movie theater

Rating: G

Posters up of the coming attraction.

Red carpet like those award ceremonies.

Guest can nibble on boxes of popcorn, watch some cartoons while waiting for the event to start.

The movie ushers will walk the moms in.

Plenty of Good and Plenty boxes to hoot on when they exit afterwards.

Reception held upstairs-they have a big room for parties and stuff.

Oh my gosh, I laughed when she told me it was a possibility, and thought it would be a blast.

What are some of the most unique weddings you have heard of or attended?

My friend recently married her second husband and decided to have a medieval goth type wedding. She had a dress made with a purple skirt and a black lace-up bustier and her husband was dressed as a pirate in leather trousers, long sleeved white shirt with ruffles at wrist and neck and a long pirates coat with huge turn-up sleeves.

Most people had a medieval theme going on, but my friends brother confessed a long-held wish to dress up as a storm trooper! So he did! There were also some little children dressed up as Christmas elves, there were a couple from the Adams family, Shrek and Princess Fiona, vampires, monks, fairies dressed in black, wenches and tavern maids, pirates, Darth Vader and Hans Solo.

It was quite a mish-mash in the end but my friend just wanted everyone to dress up and have fun and everybody did both!

She also served hog roast for the meal and her wedding cake was three tiers of different cheeses.

Well I haven't attended any myself but have some on tv and if I was to get married again I think it would be great to go to las Vegas and get married with an Elvis impersonator or something. That would be really cool.

Great ideas! Weddings should always be joyous occasions. Just so the marriage vows are taken seriously by the couple.

Folks may know that Hubby and I vacation in Cherokee, North Carolina. It is quite a busy little vacation spot on the Cherokee reservation. I just found this Cherokee marriage vow that is quite lovely:

Native American (Cherokee)

"God in heaven above please protect the ones we love. We honor all you created as we pledge our hearts and lives together. We honor Mother Earth and ask for our marriage to be abundant and grow stronger through the seasons. We honor fire and ask that our union be warm and glowing with love in our hearts. We honor wind and ask that we sail through life safe and calm as in our father's arms. We honor water to clean and soothe our relationship -- that it may never thirst for love. With all the forces of the universe you created, we pray for harmony as we grow forever young together. Amen."
