Once upon a time
In no land but mine
Birds used to sweetly sing
As the boughs duly swing
When every spring flower blooms
And a pleasant future looms
Till the golden era dwindled
When trusted ones had us swindled
Causing each blossom to wither
In so much a dismal weather
Dirtied beyond clearance
Sapping our forbearance
Yet threat of doom betides
Swimmers against the tides
Thence lives in unbalance sway
With every hope flown away
Like a haplessly parried dove
Into a darkened sky above
That further blurs the mind’s sight
De-crystallizing the might
That once aspired to move mountains
While wide open were the curtains
To a stage so filled with promises
But now drawn close by chains of losses
And so we live like rats
Hiding from savage cats
High atop a fortress' rafter
Unhappily ever after
In no land but mine
Birds used to sweetly sing
As the boughs duly swing
When every spring flower blooms
And a pleasant future looms
Till the golden era dwindled
When trusted ones had us swindled
Causing each blossom to wither
In so much a dismal weather
Dirtied beyond clearance
Sapping our forbearance
Yet threat of doom betides
Swimmers against the tides
Thence lives in unbalance sway
With every hope flown away
Like a haplessly parried dove
Into a darkened sky above
That further blurs the mind’s sight
De-crystallizing the might
That once aspired to move mountains
While wide open were the curtains
To a stage so filled with promises
But now drawn close by chains of losses
And so we live like rats
Hiding from savage cats
High atop a fortress' rafter
Unhappily ever after
