This is the thread where it is acceptable to go "off-topic" as long as the subject is mentioned in the previous post. In this thread you can make an observation, or a statement, opinion, or state a fact and the next poster will take any word from you post and make his-her own statement, observation or fact. And so on...

The train of thought, stream of thought, or chain of thought refers to the interconnection in the sequence of ideas expressed during a connected discourse or thought, as to well known as the sequence itself, especially in discussion how this sequence leads from one idea to another.

An example:

Post #1 We have a small tomato garden in our back yard. The tomatoes are still green, but growing. Hubby found a worm today on the vine and squashed it. But there may be others. We must be ever vigilant. We are looking forward to big red juicy tomatoes ;)

(Now the next poster can mention "tomatoes" or "worms" or "gardens"or "squash" :wah:.....anything that is mentioned in Post #1)

Post#2 Chilled, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers are delicious. I know some serve them with vinegar as a summer salad.

(Next poster can use any of the words from this post to make his her statement;

"salad" "summer" vinegar" etc.

Let's see where this Train of Thought takes us. ;)

I love vinegar. I just checked and it comes from barley...I never knew that :-5

I'll start:

I'm here on my computer and also watching an old movie on the Fox Channel. It is "The Keys to the Kingdon" starring Gregory Peck 1944. In the movie, Gregory Peck's character has just aged 10 years. His hair has some gray hightlights in it, and he is wearing glasses, but.........:wah:.....he sure aged gracefully in the film. In real life, Mr. Peck was still a handsome man as an older gentleman.

Hey Theia...............just saw your post! Welcome aboard.

Is barley related to wheat? My sister moved and left me her cubboard and it contained a box of 'wheat salad'. Why that sounded at all interesting, I'll never know, but I mixed it up and tried it..

I now know why she was so generous with her boxed goods.:yh_sick:yh_sick

There's nothing terrific about thunderstorms! Hate them. The current rain forecast for later tonight is not going to happen, I want to keep my shorts on and keep enjoying the sunshine!

How often do you like to go out of your nice comfort zone, and create a little michief? For me, it's every once in awhile. I don't plan it....I just do it. My only restriction is that no one gets hurt. No casualties. Just good fun.

I prefer pull-over tops over button-down shirts. Although a blouse or shirt can be quite attractive if it is the right size and style.

Anybody you know have a button collection? I do save the ones that fall off in a small jar................to sew back on later. When I am in the mood and want to wear the item. :wah:

Some folks also like to collect old campaign buttons.

Sew.

I hate sewing, when i was at school i took so long making my end of school party dress, it wasnt ready in time, so i had to have a bought dress which was of course better than all the other girls who had practically the same dress on they had all made in needlework:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:sneaky:

winter

I much prefer the levels of traffic in the winter, the school run takes half the time and most people seem know the width of their vehicles. It must be a pre-requirement of owning a mercedes or BMW that you have no idea how wide you are and you panic when meeting another car in narrow road

At 7.30 on a Sunday morning I can drive all the way to the hospital in Truro and see hardly any traffic. Until the summer. This Sunday it was quite busy. But that's preferable to being stuck behind a tractor.

traffic

One thing I like about my daily commute to and from work is that there are no traffic lights along the way. It takes me around 20 minutes to get to work and it is an easy, pleasant drive. I pass farm land, old houses, country roads, and small nieghborhoods. I am glad I don't have to drive in city traffic everyday. Ugh!

commute

The daily commute in Toronto is always congested no matter what time of day, so you have to account for extra time no matter where your going whether it be your place of work or just to the drug store, its true what they say, I live in a concrete jungle.

congested

I hate it when my nose is conjested. I blow and blow and it still feels like it's stuffed. I use tissue after tissue to no avail. Sometimes, a dab of Vicks Vaporub just under the nose gives some relief. I don't like to breath through my mouth either. And trying to fall asleep.............forget about it.

Walked

My hubby walked to the shops today, as he does every other day, to get some groceries and a newspaper. It keeps him fit and saves on the petrol (gas) that is around £6 per gallon (UK), at the moment, but there seems to be a bit of a price war on, so hopefully the cost of fuel may go down a little! My hubby loves walking and he also takes our German Shepherd out for his walks each day, through the park and the woods (lots of trees - a dog's heaven!).

summer

Summer is just two weeks away now, and it seems the spring went so fast this year.

My gardens are blooming, the birds are chirping and eating their seeds.

The mother wrens are feeding their babies, who seem bigger than them as they have their first covering of feathers.

Babies

Babies always make me smile. When I was a young woman, it seemed like I was always around babies. Either my own or someone elses. So many diapers to change. So many mouths to feed with the little spoon or the bottles. :wah: So many splashings in the tub. Taking care of a baby was a 24/7 job. A sometimes tiring and messy...but wonderful and important job. :)

Now, I'm not around babies so much and the opportunity to hold and croon over a baby is a small pleasure to me. They are so precious.

Change

What do you do with your loose change? Do you dump it in one container and count it all later? Do you keep it in your pocket because you like to hear it jingle?

Do you buy lots of sodas and chips and candy bars out of the vending machine?

Do you like to do magic tricks with it for the kids like pulling a quarter out of an ear?

Ear

Do you wear earrings? Are your ears pierced? Mine are. I usually just wear little silver balls on my ears. I have all kinds of earrings..but I prefer the little ones. I have eagles, sunflowers, hens, ladybugs, pennies, dream-catchers....you name it. :wah:

dream catchers

I have a large glass red cardinal dream catcher in my bay window so the birds don't fly into the glass as they had been doing for years. They are magical and some are spiritual as I also have one of an Indian woman with feathers all around it.

Stained glass windows can be so beautiful when a bright light shines through it. Almost like jewels. You mostly see these inside a church, but, sometimes people have one in thier front door or hallway at home.

It was a horrific tragedy.

It was my husbands grandfather who ran him over and never forgave himself.

We went down each year on our vacation to visit his parents and helped them run a small grocery store they owned and we would visit my husbands brothers grave site every year.

Weird part, that was over 35 years ago AFTR, and still to this day I hear on our news at least once a month that someone's child has been run over in their driveway.

It can be so hard backing up a vehicle when you have no idea where kids are playing and you can't see them as they are so small.

That's true about backing up. I was doing that in a parking lot at Target yesterday. I have an SUV. I noticed these 2 teenage kids strolling along toward their car, chattering away and something told me to look around. Just then a little 3 or 4 year old, unattended, darted from behind my vehicle. I couldn't see him because he was too short and apparently in my blind spot. Could have been a tragedy.

I can't help thinking that if this was 1910 instead of 2010, I would indeed be blind now. I had cataracts in both my eyes which were removed by lazer surgery around 15 years ago.
