Well, saying that word in class today brought the house down, and rampant 7th graders were heard saying it up and down the hallway all day. I'll have to lay low in the classroom tomorrow, I think every teacher in school is tired of hearing it said twenty times a class and will know who first said it..............................:wah:

Testing was finished in March-early, wasn't it? Scarey waiting for the scores, my school has never made it to the passing level in all the years I've been there. Their last science test they bombed, I was shocked, first time this year. And all scores are scrutized by admin on up........

WOW...that's early....
~~~~Same here Chonsi....It's a worry~~~~ We've been working on division forever, and the kids still don't understand it when dealing with division in word problems. Their writing is much, much better, but sometimes they become too overconfident.
We won't get our results until next September
Good luck to your class Chonsi:-6
Wow, September is a long time to wait. I think we will know last week of school, kind of ruins the summer if it is bad news. I hope your kidlets get division!
It is Chonsi, but I think you get your results earlier as your kids will be moving on to high school soon. You'll need the results quicker to prepare them for their final tests. Our kids are only 3rd graders, so they've made the tests a bit later on than our intermediate schools.
I'm wondering what the context was.
If you're just telling some poor creature off, accusing her of meretricious lackadaisical anthropophagite tendencies should bring her to heel. Though it might get you bitten if she works it out.
If you want classical abuse, Kent's outburst at II:2:20 in King Lear is as good a guide as one could look for.
Mr Spot is trying to bobulate us all!!!
--------------------------
KENT
Fellow, I know thee.
OSWALD
What dost thou know me for?
KENT
A knave; a rascal; an eater of broken meats; a
base, proud, shallow, beggarly, three-suited,
hundred-pound, filthy, worsted-stocking knave; a
lily-livered, action-taking knave, a whoreson,
glass-gazing, super-serviceable finical rogue;
one-trunk-inheriting slave; one that wouldst be a
bawd, in way of good service, and art nothing but
the composition of a knave, beggar, coward, pandar,
and the son and heir of a mongrel bitch: one whom I
will beat into clamorous whining, if thou deniest
the least syllable of thy addition.
Mr Shakespeare.
It might not be a word in America, Bevdee, but it is heard often in Australia.
Your face would combobulate a Tassie devil.
(meaning something like you're easy on the eye)
The more bonza the bloke, the more combobulated the barbie
(meaning watch out for sharks when swimming)
And I could go on......
I don’t blame them, it is a great word. I like to us it as well.
With Iceland being in the news lately with their volcano, my daughter learned that the capital of Iceland is Reykjavik. She thought that that was hilarious and spend the whole day saying Reykjavik in her Scooby-Doo voice.
RRRReykjavik????
Hey Shaggy.. rets go to RRRReykjavik…
It was funny
It could have been worse, you could have said, "titillate."
Or you might have totally blown a phrase like I did the other day when I tried to say "pushy person" in class.
I vote we petition to have combobulate and all its forms & tenses accepted into the Ameribritaussie vocabulary. (Also French, Le combobulated and Spanish, El combobulatedoro)
Gallic shrug
The French, not surprisingly, have been there for quite a while!!
Vous me combobulez - You're too kind
Allez faire le combob!! - Go take a running er jump!
Espèce de salaud combobulé!! - You twit!
Se décombobuler - Get out of trouble
Décombobulez le chien - Get the dog neutered!
Street French, verlan- style, of course has the usual few backwards forms. (Don't use on your elderly Parisian relative)
T'es bocom, toi - You're kinda sexy!
Déboc avec moi? - Let's ####?
I can see it being used in highschool French classes:
Yep, there are a load of different keyboards just in Europe - wreaks havoc with my touchtyping speed, as I go from one to another.
Many of the internet cafes in Sydney use Asian keyboards, for even more fun.
