Yea, I think it is quite odd myself. Maybe its because I don't care much for what few cousins I have.......Second thought, it's very odd.



I guess to each their own though, it doesn't affect me.

It's legal here in Britain to marry a cousin.

In India it's not only legal to marry your Maternal cousin but also your Maternal Uncle also!

So what if you didn't know your cousin and met him/her incidently one day and fell in love with him/her. Would that be so strange?

I have done a LOT of genealogical research and suffice it to say that more families than not have multiple cousin marriages in thier ancestry...lots of them first cousins. It used to be common, because families moved together, lived close and often there wasn't an available spouse in the same county.

MEdical science has pretty well disproved the 'crazy' gene. The only inheritance problems come if there is a major genetic disease in the family such as hemophilia (or red hair :wah: ) and not always then.

That said...I wouldn't want to marry MY cousins either, but the idea is not inacceptable to me, just a little repulsive, knowing my cousins! :p
