Did you notice Special award: Eddie Izzard - Sports Personality of the Year 2009: the winners last year? It was something I'd have thought completely impossible but he managed it.

43 marathons in 51 days. For a thoroughly trained athlete, that is a hellovan achievement! For an out-of-condition non-athlete, that is an impossibility! But no, it was achieved by this remarkable man. All the very best to you Eddie Izzard, you are an example to us all! You are also a very funny guy, and that is your chosen work - to make people laugh. My best wishes to this man, he has my great respect.
Spot, I watched each gruelling programme that followed his journey. He nearly had to give it all up because of the damage to his feet. His determination, focus, will-power, put us all to shame.
Koan, I hope you get to see this guy and enjoy his show. I'm proud to say he's British! :-6 :guitarist

OK then silly question.....but.......
Why on earth did he need to cross Tower Bridge on the last leg, remember he was running north to south and didn't need to go south of the river Thames.

To do the exact marathon distance for the final day because the direct route was shorter.

A curious provision of current UK law is that recording or watching a deferred program from any source, including the BBC, needs no government licence, but recording or watching any program from any UK broadcaster concurrent with its transmission whether it's from a terrestrial, satellite or internet source, does. I can't watch, for example, ITV4 live or Sky News Live in a browser without having paid for a current UK BBC Television licence, but I can watch Marathon Man on the iPlayer BBC1 site or the current news on Al Jazeera TV[1] without one.
No, is the brief answer. Neither TV nor licence.
[1] I wouldn't swear to the watching Al Jazeera live news in a browser bit, that might need a licence even though it's from abroad.

I still remember the hassle because you wouldn't let them in to see that we didn't have a TV in the flat.
Never give in!
