I expect so, Bruv, more's the pity ! As Roy Hattersley said of Spitting Image, "If you can't laugh at things like this, then you've no business in politics" (very loose quote, but it does appear on this following clip !)..................

My wife who happens to be a bloody foreigner is amazed at how far we can go in extracting the urine from our politicians, royalty etc.
She sits aghast when I watch some comedy programs......A bit of irreverence is healthy to take em all down a peg.
Spitting Image was particularly cruel at times, or maybe I am getting soft in my old age.

Bruv - you are definitely getting soft ! All governments need to be kicked in the backside like this from time to time. As Hattersley says, if they can't take it and laugh at themselves, then they shouldn't be in politics. I think it was a sad day that Spitting Image went. There were a lot of hard-hitting questions asked in those programmes. I always remember when they showed film of a British warship, and the words were something like - several million pounds have just been spent on refurbishing this British warship, and they are now using it as target practice in an exercise !!!!!! Why ?????...........................
These things were usually shown just before an advertising break, probably as food for thought. Spitting Image mostly tried to include something serious like that.

These two are brilliant, and I really cannot imagine that they use a script, how could they? You've got to be somebody special, somebody really intelligent to pull off such 'sketches' as they do regularly like that. I expect they just have a few outline questions and sort of answers to work on, and then when it is transmitted they just expand on the basic theme, with whatever comes to mind at the time! Very clever men.

Spitting Image was tame compared to say 'Mock The Week'. Even I have my flabber ghasted by some of the stuff Frankie Boyle comes out with.
