That's more or less what I said !

In the UK you can ask for a 'Bitter shandy', (Bitter beer and lemonade)

'Mild shandy' (Mild beer and lemonade)

'Lager shandy' (Lager and lemonade - lager being a kind of beer)

'Ginger beer shandy' (Bitter beer or Lager beer or even Mild beer with ginger beer instead of the lemonade).

Don't mistake ginger beer for ginger ale - they are quite different.

I love ginger beer on it's own, my favourite is Stone's ginger beer. A lot of supermarket 'own brand' ginger beers are too sweet for my taste.

Used to search for a beer that tasted as I remember beer tasting when I was a wee snot and drank stolen bottles of the bitter, bubbly liquid from my gramps. Then I realized I'll never find it because my taste buds are not the same as I aged.

I bought some bottles of beer today, a mixed "case", including some I've never had before (amazing!!):

2x Ringwood's "Old Thumper".

2x Wychwood's "Hobgoblin".

2x Brakspear's "Oxford Gold", an organical beer.

2x Marston's "Pedigree".

2x Banks's Bitter.

2x Jennings' "Cumberland.

I don't remember having the last two before - if I did have any, it must've been a "good night"!

The first four in the list are very acceptable, though, esp. #'s 2 & 3.

My favorite beer is the one that I did not buy.

Stella Artois... Or "Old Wifebeater" as it's known here. Well known for increasing aggression levels! Grant you that as lagers go it's actually got some flavour, but the side effects are unpleasant. For the English, anyway.

I like Miller High Life because it doesnt give me a hangover for some reason if I drink to much unlike other beers.

Wychcraft from the Wychwood Brewery. Absolutely GORGEOUS!

It's absolutely horrid. The flippin' stuff's got *maize* in it, which is actually used as a marketing ploy. The Germans would go mad. The maize is to make the stuff cheaper to produce, whilst at the consumer end, the price is jacked up. The fact that it sells well is a truimph of marketing over reality.

Firstly let me express my admiration for all you posters in this thread - your taste in beers is remarkable.

The Banks's is from Nottinghamshire and a reasonable session beer but the Jennings is one to travel for.

I prefer the Wychwood's Goliath to the better known Hobgoblin and find the Pedigree better from the barrel than from the bottle but both far outweigh the can.

Ringwood's I approve of in all its forms but the Brakspears I have to be in the mood for.

All in all, a worthy case of beer - enjoy

Oh, I misunderstood your trip. Thought you had problems....still....don't understand...shunt the boat...drove the boat...Did you drive the boat to the water and then take the trip? Do you store your boat near your home?

My fault, being silly is OK if you let other know you're doing it.

We keep the boat forty miles from home (by road) but it's usually a week's cruising on the water. I had been hoping to take two long weekends to bring the boat up before the start of our holiday but, things being what they are we had to do it in one.

Given that we were doing fourteen hour days to manage it I could hardly call it a pleasure cruise - it was purely shunting the boat around the country to achieve an end. We're still two days short of home but it will be a easier to start our holiday from there than from her normal mooring. (As a comparison, last month we took seven days to cover forty miles, this weekend we covered seventy five miles in three days).

So, from next Thursday, for the next twenty five days, we will be slowly cruising up from central England to the northeastern limit of the canal system before starting to head west - maybe two hundred miles all told.

More than 4 months without a drink now. Stubborn as hell me, someone said i couldn't go two weeks without a drink, over 4 months later still not a drop. I have beer in the house and in my caravan so it is around me all the time, not even tempted to crack a can. Wifey is threatening to get me tested to see if i am really her husband or an alien imposter.

Lost a stone quite quickly, a little of it has gone back on.

I have grown quite fond of biscuits and tea.

my favorite is Jockamo

Jockamo is an excellent summertime beer when you are out there turning over some steaks on the grill

Never tried Jockamo, but Abita makes some nice brews.

IPA's are not my favorite.

Loveland, CO has four microbreweries, now. One of my favorites is Grimm Brothers Brewhouse

My favorite is just to have a sip of whatever my husband is drinking. I do not like much more than a sip, but prefer the lighter beers to the darks like Guinness

I'm not a beer drinker, I love my wine, but I have taken a liking to a beer I've enjoyed when in Florida - it's called Shock Top. It has an orange citrus flavour.
