i haven't yet read the act itself, but it seems governor jeb bush has signed the Jessica Lunsford Law. it provides that anyone who sexually assaults a child under 12 must do 25 years in prison, no early release. and it further provides that released offenders will wear GPS tracking ankle bracelets. it's a start, it's good, especially the mandatory sentencing. but if a child is over 12 it won't apply, and the GPS system is going to be impossible to maintain on a practical level. i hope this wasn't just a political move to calm the hue and cry down here.
