Shall we try a new game? Just to see how exciting it is?

Someone posts two wikipedia links. The object is to find the fewest clicks needed to get from the first to the second. The answer with the fewest links wins that round.

For example:

Get from Mods & Rockers Film Festival to French Revolution

Best answer so far: Mods & Rockers Film Festival to Eleanor Bron to Paris to French Revolution in three clicks.

Here's one to try out the concept.

Get from Defrosting to Chicago

Well it does, sort of. There's a whole stack of word games on FG which don't, I'm doing what I can to bring the tone a little higher.

I'm not sure how to manage clues though. Any ideas would be welcome.

Are we aloud to use links outside of the "article" box? Or more to the point, are all links on every given page permissible?

I've no idea - try if you think you can get there, you never know. Only clicks though, nothing on the keyboard.

Well I ask because there are the links within the "navigation" box etc on the left that remain fixed no matter the material.

But if we talk about purely being all links fair game then I'll submit this then...

Hmm. The problem there is that the starting page makes no difference at all, you could have been looking at the more obscure sexual practices of the Hittites and done exactly the same.

I think, if we're to turn it into a game, we need to limit the clicks to the article content.

If anyone disagrees though, do say.

I agree.

Although that Hittites bit was a bit intriguing to say the the least are we to continue with "Defrosting" to "Chicago"? I would suspect we'd leave the same two destinations available for something like an entire day so that we can be fair to most all that visits in the same. Perhaps crown the victor of all ignorant monkey's the day after?

How about the specific guidlines be posted...

Perhaps the only links that are fair to use are the links within the relevant subject matter within the "article" box and "See also" I'd think would be appropriate.

I don't see why we shouldn't leave the first open to anyone who can better five clicks. We've also now got Ant to Bedpan to chase.

The rule consolidation sounds good, we can adopt that.

Oh... new rule before it happens - no editing of Wikipedia to add a convenient link, okay! It would have been far too easy to change the wording of "Canadians often use vacation and holiday..." to get a direct link to Canada and do it in three clicks instead.

I hope people are reading the articles they find on the way, it's educational.
