Café du Jour

Nearly everyone enjoys their morning ritual of having a nice, aromatic, hot mug of coffee in their hands. I prepare a small, freshly ground (sometimes freshly roasted), pot of coffee as I sit down to write every morning. It seems to take my mind off to a new place... I believe that it even aids in my creativity.

My coffee of the day this morning was the classic Guatemalan Antigua.

What coffee did you have today? :-6

Not sure what 'vintage' mine will be. But black and oily works. Italian style, French style.... gasp. First coffee of the day is about 15 mins away.

That's gotta' be 10W40, at least! I know that 10W40 is not suitable for winters here, but I don't care what the season is! :yh_rotfl

My morning coffee started with Van Houttes Columbian, followed by a Carabou Sumatra french roast and I'm now enjoying a Kona blend Island coffee.

I just finished writing for the day... time to take another coffee break!

The coffee of the day today was... Celebes Kalossi... the old name for Sulawesi. A nice, full-bodied, buttery, rich, thick coffee. This is one of my absolute favorites. :D

Folgers. That's what I consider real coffee. :wah: I don't understand how people wake up in the morning without caffeine.

Indeed it is real coffee for good ol' hard-working, honest Midwesterners like us, Peg! :D I always try to keep some on hand and to be quite honest, I look forward to drinking it on occasion.

This morning I'm drinking the Gevalia holiday blend, though *ahem* that was delivered to my mailbox which is about 300 yards from my door, mind you :p (no butler, but I do have a very protective lil' black lab that notifies me when somebody so much as slows down in front of my house). It's not too bad! :D

Maybe it's an antidote to the fast food type coffee, but I have noticed in the US, in big cities anyway, that there are a lot of gourmet coffee tasting places, where you can try and buy. We have less of those here - and mostly buy fresh coffee by the style. I know for instance that Italian cafes will serve a dark, oily brew that hits the spot with me. There's a chain that serves Jamaican blue mountain coffee which I also like. Right now it's Saturday morning, and I'm pre-coffee and dying for it. Especially after a swelteringly hot, high wind stormy night..... pant pant pant..

It is my solemn duty to cook a full English breakfast for himself in the weekend. It is his solemn duty to brew the first coffee of the day!! But he slumbers on....

I was in a hurry this morning... had to catch up with a local novelist who agreed to meet with me and help me with this novel... btw, I'm almost finished with the first draft!!! :D:D:D I've been working my ass off on this and it's just writing itself now! It helps that I had the first few chapters and the ending completed first. So far, the only people that might get pissed off at this novel are the Canadian police... so, I'll just have to watch crossing over into eskimoland if this thing takes off. :wah:

Not quite yet, but very, very close! I just need to tie up a few more loose ends, provide more clues, and murder some more Canadians. :wah:

I'm glad that I finally figured it out... I tried to write a novel before and it ended up being a big mess with no end in sight and over 110,000 words. Who knows, I may give it another try if I can figure out how to make it all connect.

Somebody has to get the blame for all of those dead people! :yh_rotfl

Today the coffee is some Nicaraguan dark roast that I picked up when my gf and I were shopping in the mall... well, there was this cute, lonely, Asian woman selling coffee in the middle of the aisle and well, you know me... I picked up some, then flirted with her for awhile and got some free coffee for my effort! :D

It's pretty damn good coffee, too! Fresh roasted!

Gman,

I love, love, love coffee but only drink it in the morning. Soooo, I'm not into fancy coffees.

I grind my own coffee beans and at times use the boden products for cappaccinos and have expresso machine for expresso for after dinner and company sometimes.

I still love the old fashioned coffees....Maxwell House and Forgers. I buy A&P french roast and Dunken Donuts coffee and grind the beans at home.

It's lovely to wake up and smell the coffee:D

She's quite a bit older, but... Asian women never seem to age. :D

This morning I had some Ethiopian Yirgacheffe in my new coffee brew station... it was absolutely perfect! It's a Cuisinart with the burr grinder on top and fully programmable. My other coffeemaker broke... just imagine me repeatedly pressing the brew button until all the water went through. I was getting quite a workout, but I imagine I'd end up with "Nintendo-itus" from repeatedly pushing that damn button! :wah:
