If you use Lime Away for hard water spots thoroughly wash your hands before proceeding with toilet duties.
I cant stress enough the importance of this precaution.

And, indeed, rinse the device after you've cleaned it. I got a major surprise from a groin attachment once from not remembering to rinse it thoroughly after an overnight soak.
