There is also a fun class for 'Best trick'. Problem is, will she perform on the day or make me look a div when she's distracted by all the other dogs? She plays tennis. She gets a tennis ball in her mouth, stands upright on her back legs and with her front paws, launches the ball out of her mouth to serve. It's weather she will do it on the day. I suppose we can try. :wah:

I hide It when we have guests.

Go with the logic of thinking the worst :wah: Anything better than that is a bonus.
On a serious note i bet you meet a lot of lovely people who are there for the exact same reasons you are. I kinda understand the other side as well, your dog has to start somewhere in the show ring and fun shows are no shame to the wannabe show - er if no placing comes of it. (they just don't mention it) :sneaky:
My neighbour has been showing her dogs for a couple of years as she wanted to remove the breeding restrictions on her dogs and started out at fun shows. She's now into it very seriously and resulted this year in a placing at crufts.
They are not always the best behaved dogs, they don't always perform for the judge but they are damned fine looking dogs and no matter how much ego stroking goes on between judges and well known breeders if your dog conforms to the standard, it conforms to the standard and everybody knows it.

So True. Mulder Is a Pedigree Parson Russell Terrier and his dad won Crufts Best of breed 1997 and 1998. It could have been the treble If his owner was not paralysed in a car smash. Mulder's mother was runner up twice also. We always wanted to show Mulder but to be honest we both worked very long hours when he was younger and It was a huge commitment. I did the ring craft training but In the end, we put him to stud instead. He seemed to like shagging better than ring craft.
My nephew has a Japanese Akita who Is on her way to Crufts also and the commitment he has to put In is awesome.
If I had Mulder down the poodle parlour for a grooming quick I could get him In the Pedigree sections saturday but I think he's just too old now for all that. Parsons should be hand stripped which he hates at the best of times so, no, It's the scruffy section for him. :wah:
I will just be thrilled If she gets a rossette in One catagory and of course I shall never mention It again if she gets none. :yh_rotfl I'm not taking It too seriousley, I shall just have a great time being with the dogs and horses as It's a horse show as well.

I had a pencil and pastel done of the dogs, started a thread somewhere but with just the first submission by the artist, will have to go find it and update. Thought you as a dog lover might like to see the almost finished piece? I highly recommend him, nothing is too much trouble.

That is fabulous. The detail of the expressions in their eyes is captured very well. Does he work from photographs? It's a co-incidence as I wanted to get a portrait of Mulder and Scully before I lose them to old age. If you could pm me his details, I'd be very grateful If he can work from pics.

(its in update for Val thread) Yes, I would love to do that. When my nephews Akita won her first professional show, part of the prize was a portrait like yours and I was so jealous and wanted one of mine. I'll be off to bed very soon and I'm going to sort the Lockerbie imfo out before I go so I will pm you In the morning. Thankyou :-6:-6
