Ok you guys you knew eventually we had to face it, us survivor fans need a thread....
So what do you all thing about it now? I say let's go Steph, lets see her go all the way.
However euwwww for her having to go back alone that has to really really be the pits. I think I would be scared to death to be alone there at nite, both the trek and the sleeping at the site.
My final 2 hopefulls Ian and Steph.

Thanks for starting a Survivor thread! I'm two episodes behind but still have them on my TiVo. I'll join the conversation when I catch up!

i agree, steph is a very impressive young lady. competitive, hard working, straightforward, softspoken but not demure. she's fabulous.
however, i don't see it possible for her to go all the way. the other tribe will vote her off in short order after merge, and there's no place to go but merge now that she's solo.
but you never know. they've thrown curveballs at us all season.
However euwwww for her having to go back alone that has to really really be the pits. I think I would be scared to death to be alone there at nite, both the trek and the sleeping at the site.
well, don't forget -- there's at least one cameraman there with her! poses an interesting situation. i know the survivors aren't supposed to interact with the camera people, at least unless it's one of the 'direct face time, here's what i think' camera moments. but what on earth can she do BUT talk to the cameraman?! it'd be nuts to make her remain totally silent except for interview time.
next week should be interesting. well, okay, it's all interesting, next week should be extra-special interesting!

I'm a Survivor fan as well. I LOVE Stephanie too. From a preview I saw the teams merge and split in two; Tom listed off names of people he picked and Steph was one of them. They showed a glimpse of Kobie the gay guy looking very upset. The food challenge was repulsive. There is no way I could eat baby ducks! How sick! I feel sorry for Bobby John. He was a bit weird but he really put out the effort. Ib was about as worthless as can be and James was just GROSS! His dirty diaper he had there for awhile was nasty squared! I like more people on this Survivor than any of the others!

i think what they should do is the 'each tribe picks who their leader is, and then they pick new teams'. since steph is the only one left of her tribe, she is the leader and gets to pick her new tribe.
steph is one of the best survivors in a long time. initially i didn't like her. those eyebrows, man, she looks angry all the time! but she's a strong competitor, without being obnoxious, she's soft-spoken without being a pushover, and come on: the 'building fire' challenge was brilliant. instead of trying to build a roaring fire - which is what bobby jon did, and which i'd have probably done too - she stacked all the wood at the bottom, then put the kindling *on top*, where it was really close to the 'fuse'. brilliant! that was a great moment of thinking on your feet.
go steph! (who i doubt will survive past this thursday, unfortunately).

On a preview Tom lists off names including Ian, Katie and STEPH! Coby looks mad. Tom is one team leader. He picks Steph. That's how it looked anyway! I normally do not like the Barbies and Ken's on reality shows. But I LOVE Steph. She has it all. Must time out, go home and prepare for my treatment! Till Tuesday.

I saw that too David, Tom did mention if there was merge he, Ian and Katie would take Steph to the final 4 yeahhhh ian and steph go boys and girls. Gotta love Ians whole demeanor, and he is cute as heck too.
And Get rid of those useless girls like Coby suggested, ie push em in the fire, Janu and Karen in particular.
Yes pity bobby jon, but I think he was growing weak quickly. And sorry but he came across as a bit clueless. I mean physical yeah he had it together for most of the time, but brain power wasn't all there.
I would love to see Ian get Tom out and sit where he deserves.
Turf the love birds as their alliance is a bit threatening but as time goes on they will prove useless.
And yeah Rob and Ambuh was a bit nausiating.
Praise the lord the days james and Ib were turfed.

I like more people on this Survivor than any other I've seen. I only missed the 1st season. (I ridiculed people that watched it! Now I'm a Survivor addict!

) Tom is a great Survivor but too great. I like everyone but Jenny (?) the Barbie girlfriend of Gregg and Janu the whiny showgirl. Can you imagine if Janu were on Ulong! She couldn't handle it. I'm glad yucky redneck James is gone and Mr. Useless and I'm Only Here to Pose for the Camera Ibrahim. Steph Rules in my book. Probst is alot rougher at Tribal Council than any season before! Almost mean! Looking forward to a shakeup Thursday. I love the show, even though it celebrates greed, lying, cheating and backstabbing :sneaky: but when will there be a non-tropical Survivor?? How 'bout Survivor Greenland! Or Siberia! I guess the networks want skin so I doubt we'll see any variation on the always tropical theme (including Africa & Australia) but a new retooled adventure would be welcome in my book! I wonder how Wanda and the young guy thrown out on the 1st day would have fared had they stayed in the game! She was a real wacko but who knows, she might have gotten past the singing freak stage and been interesting! The guy, well...just another Ken doll but it was unfair the way they were thrown out of the show in a schoolyard popularity test. I really felt sorry for them.

Not too worry, David! I'm am overjoyed that this thread is going. (I'm always kind of nervous to start one because there seems to be two kinds of people in the world...those who love Survivor, and those who think everyone who loves Survivor is an idiot.)
Wow! Can you believe that there's only one person on a tribe? Here's my take on that...Yes, she can whittle down Koror! (And MAN, would I love to see those over-confident people taken down a notch!) It's going to be a one-on-one contest every time. if the challenges are not skewed to strength, and are more equal-like intelligence, why couldn't she take them down one by one?
If I was the director, I'd give her challenges that she has a good chance in. Everybody loves an underdog.
Oh... and i can't stnad that gay Coby! I'm not homophobic, but his snippy, stab everyone in the back and I'm better than everyone just doesn't wash with me.
I have to teach Thursday nights, but Mrs. Ives tapes every show for me and we watch it together. Even when she was in the hospital last week, I taped it, took a VCR into her hospital room, and we watched it together, holding hands.

I'm thrilled there are other Survivor fanatics like me! I was one of the haters but got addicted the 2nd season! I don't mind Coby as much but I can tell he's gonna snap and blow his gains in the tribe by having a total BF! He's a schemer but seems to loathe the thought of others scheming! hahahahahahaha you would be a good on paper survivor guy, you could "survive" but your right you would not be liked by the pretty folk. Silly how people think huh. Me as I watched the show I kept an eye out for 1) strength and smarts combined. Then would think ok you have to stay for a bit as your useful.
2) stupidity would not be tolerated, off you go tribe has spoken
3) Weak ok but are you useful in other ways? Ok you can stay on for now.
4) Doesnt' play well with others, ok but can you gather wood, water, make fire etc, ok I want you in the end ahahahaha
Yes us Canucks are survivors it is in our blood we were all girl guides and boy scouts all our youth ahahahahaha

It took me a little by surprise too, but then Coby was being a jerk to everyone all day long. You should never do that!
I think it's obvious that Tom has a huge alliance going, at least four of them altogether, and then Steph voted with them last night for a total of 5 votes. I guess she knows who's in power right now.
Actually, that's too bad because I like Tom and it's way too soon to be seen as a threat. He should have lost the immunity (he didn't need it anyway) and let Steph have the immunity.
He'd better tone it down, or he'll go the way of Sarge in the last game.

G'morning Jives
Well I liked Coby in all his gayness and he had a good point at tribal C and all the power to him for beaking off about it being a dam popularity contest... I quote the infamous Napoleon Dynamite here "IDIOT'S" they need to turf that dam Janu, then that useless Gregg did you watch him do Nothing. Gawd those two chap my hide. Ok sorry my rant.
Go Steph horray for hanging in there, and I think Tom is cheesing off a few, but he has some faithfuls. I do think however he is totally being played by Ian. Ian is just biding his time and he is as strong as Tom and maybe more credible now after Tom falling to his knees after the Rum Fest.
But good to see Steph still in there. I thought she voted for Janu??? Or was it Coby who did hell it was Coby wasn't it ahahahaha

i think the vote last night - while it was a bit of a surprise to me that it was coby - was pretty cagey overall. this was first tribal counsel after "merge" and individual immunity. this early, it's dumb to immediately vote off the the weak and the sick (and the annoying). the weak/sick/annoying are an asset later on. by keeping them (translation: janu) around longer, it to some extent predisposes that person towards the remaining contestants - so it works in their favor from a jury perspective. plus, it makes the immunity challenges 'easier' for everyone else, having someone you know will not win the challenge always there. better to get rid of potential physical threats early.
i think it's outstanding that they didn't vote off steph. they all know she's an incredible competitor, so sparing her this first round was almost an act of tribal respect.
now steph needs to ally with greg/jennifer/caryn. pull janu in for one more vote, gives them majority, and they can pick off the 'strong' alliance of tom/ian/katie.

Yes but.....
now it is every man for him/herself but we know Coby was never going to the end, why not hold him a wee bit longer and use his skills a bit longer, allowing him to slowly fall further from favor (cause we know he was diong that well on his own) and turf to total non contributors.

tivo is almost unbearably easy to use. plug it in. plug your cable into the tivo. run the tivo output to the tv. press the power button on the remote.
as i said before, the interface is one of the true marvels of modern interface engineering. it is, in no uncertain terms, superb, both in its power, and its simplicity. if you watch tv, any tv, there is no better way to watch it (except in hidef).

Sounds cheeky but I'm kind of a low maintenance guy. Name a country and I can go on & on & on. Put anything electrical or math related in my hands and I become a 6th grader. I blame it on my parents divorce.

but see, that's the thing. it'd be easy for a sixth grader. seriously. tivo is the antithesis of the 'A-V crew' geek world. it's _intuitively_ easy to use.
having the ability to pause live tv while you're watching it, to replay a section as many times as you like, to fast forward through the commercials (if you're behind 'real time') - it really makes watching TV ten times more pleasant an experience. heat up a chili dog in the microwave while survivor's on? sure! just pause the show, fix your dish, don't forget the napkin, sit back down and hit 'play'.
too bad you're in missouri, i'd invite you over for a demo.

too bad you're in missouri, i'd invite you over for a demo.In all honesty I've never met anyone with TIVO. I suspect I am in a significantly lower economic class than you. Your COUNTY even sounds classier! Mine is Jackson.

I enjoy all the above with a VCR. Pause/stop/FF/RW! Plus I really don't understand TIVO. How can you pause live TV?? Wouldn't the screen pause for everyone else? I agree to a demo. I just need roundtrip tickets and accomodations!

TiVO used to cost a lot - and indeed, it still has a monthly fee, which is a real bummer - unless you buy a 'lifetime' subscription, but that's very expensive (i did that back when i was making big bux, and now i'm glad i did of course).
but these days i think you can get a tivo for around a hundred bucks after rebate. the monthly fee i think is still about $12 though. lifetime subscription is $200 - but who knows how long tivo will be around at this point, so that might not be a good choice.
the tivo 'spools' what you're watching onto a harddisk inside of it. when you pause, it just pauses the show you're watching, then when you hit play it resumes where it left off, all the while continuing to record the 'live' feed.
and of course, fast forward, rewind, slow mo - yes, all doable on a vcr, and a real pain due to the motors shifting and clicking in and out. lots of lag. with tivo, it's instant - fast forward, and you are instantly in fast forward. stop and you instantly stop. plus they use 'heuristics' so that the faster you're fast forwarding, when you hit 'play', it 'undershoots' - so that you will likely be right where you wanted to be, rather than past it, as happens with 'normal' fast forward or rewind.
yeah, it's incredibly difficult to describe, and incredibly easy to pick up once you have one. most people who've spent ten minutes with a tivo become like me - absolutely in love with the damn thing. it's that amazing.....

Ok Fellas what did you think of last nits survivor, wow oh!!! Pity Tom wins another immunity you can see the animosity setting in among the tribe.
At first I thought Janu was going to die alone there, but then after watching that had to be most rejuvinating for her. And laying down her torch to go home hmmmmm wow interesting, and yahoo for the beautiful steph she hangs in again. That Jeff Probst sure can stir up sh** in tribal this year huh. And I say let us punt that annoying Greg he is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo "broken record" Lets boot steph she poses a threat, lets boot steph she so poses a threat ok buddy then win some immunity and get yourself looked after steph may end up with more allies than Greg wants to admit.
I thought it was an awesome show last nite, this round of survivor is almost as good as the first one ever.
