An interesting blog reckons the average pc user has 12 unpatched programs on their pc.
Secunia.com (DISCLAIMER THIS SITE MAY BE DANGEROUS USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK)
Being the paranoid chappy I am, I thought this information worth sharing.
As a quick exercise, take the online test LINK HAS BEEN REMOVED NAME OF SITE IS ABOVE. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, IF YOUR WANT GOOD ADVISE DON'T..!! (windows users only) and see what shape your pc is in. Chances are, it will open your eyes somewhat.
Needless to say, I'm fully patched.

:wah: Surely I would be a little more subtle than that mate. :sneaky:
Been using Secunia for years Jimbo, it doesn't try selling you anything, just informs you if you're unpatched. Then gives you the relevent links to update everything.
Trust you to be cynical. :wah:

That's why I said take the "online" test, it's done through your browser.

Because, as we all know, all spammers make 70+ light hearted posts, before they get down to the nitty gritty. :wah: I must be the laziest spammer the world has ever seen. :wah:

Please explain to me how this is considered spam?
I post information like this on several forums, only this one seems to have a problem with it.
And there is nothing "clever" about my post. How is this dangerous? Get out of what program? It's an online scanner, by a reputable security service provider. Google Secunia, and see for yourself.
If this is going to happen everytime I make an informative post, to actually help people, there's little point in me posting.

That is your assessment of what it is. I see it different and have been securing PC since the 70's. I followed the link and see that it has many endorsements it is still very much a BETA application which can be dangerous.
What you fail to realize is the daily PC user has no idea what to do with the information once the scan is complete and that is where they get into trouble. They can still go to the site if they so choose the basic information is still there. I would advise them not to.

Jimbo they are clever little devils for now he is gone. If another mod want to lift the ban they can do so at their own risk.

I'm not familiar with Secunia, but a quick Google search didn't raise any red flags, and it is available for download through CNET, a site I have used and trusted for years.
Just sayin' ...
