check your toilet for leaks Put food coloring into the tank and watch in the bowl, if the color comes into the bowl there is leakage. Many people don't know this.

flush only solids, if it is liquids let em set for one or 2 times

when brushing your teeth never run the water

buy a high efficiency wash machine.

Hand wash dishes instead of a dishwasher

Check all faucets for leaks including outdoors

Only water your lawn in the morning or later in the evening by hand, during the heat of the day it is a waste, using a sprinkler for an hour is a waste. Grass has shallow roots, if it gets too much water it keeps it's roots shallow, if you use less water on it the roots will go deeper to seek water. Grass does not have to look perfect it is merely grass.

Don't water your grass. You save water and gas for mower.

Drink more beer.

Why does anyone bother watering their grass? Wait long enough and it rains and if you water it you just have to cut it sooner. Water the grass so you can cut it:eek: get a life. Long grass with lots of weeds is better for the wildlife anyway-the birds that need the insects and seeds that live there.

Don't flush the toilet till it's full, put a brick in the cistern so it doesn't use so much. If you must water the lawn pee on that instead just wait till nighttime in case the neighbours misunderstand.

Cut into your neighbor’s garden hose tap and run a line to your garden, it will save you loads of water.

I have neighbours like that as well. A shabby garden is a wildlife garden I've even got a rabbit living in mine, how's that for one-upmanship.

Apart from rain water harvesting, you can also implement certain water saving measures at home, in order to conserve water. Here are a few tips –

* Install a low flow toilet and shower head

* Reuse grey water from the kitchen and bathroom to water you garden / lawn

* Fix leaking faucets and sprinklers

* Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth

* Take shorter showers

* Use a broom to sweep the drive way instead of a water hose

* Use a bucket of water while washing your car instead of a water hose

Where did you get that one from-you're in the UK like me we don't have termites they all drown. I can quite believe that you pee on your lawn to save water considering the 50p piece was designed by the Royal Mint, just to get it out of a Scotsmans hand with a spanner.
