I didnt really know where to put this so here goes...

It seems to be a worrying trend and in recent years it seems to be growing.

A man kills his family and then himself.

Since April there have been at least 5 such situations in the Netherlands. Consider the fact that this is a country of just 16 million people.

In April a man here in Leeuwarden killed his wife then himself

then in May a man killed his GF then his ex wife and two teenage children before killing himself

again in May after a domestic row a man cut the throat of his 12 yr old step daughter

also in may an elderly man set fire to his flat after first killing his wife, he died in the fire.

Then just this weekend a mother turned up to collect her two children aged just 5 and 7 to find her ex has killed them both and then himself.

Is this a trend confind to us here or is this a gerneral trend and why?

Are men becoming so desperate after divorce? Is the idea that they have failed in marriage too much for them? Is it just a sign of growing cruelty ie if I cant have them no one will?

Am I the only one who finds this very disturbing?

This has happened a number of times here in Ireland as well.

The most tragic was two years ago when on a Friday the father brought his wife and two children to a funeral home and got the kids to select out their own coffins and purchased coffins for the whole family and provided funeral arrangement instructions.

The owner of the funeral home called the police and reported his concerns. As nothing was illegal the police did nothing other than call the Social Services, but of course it was a Friday and social services don’t work weekends and have no emergency out of hour’s services available because the union cannot agree to terms and conditions for out of hour’s service provisions.

By Monday morning the whole family was found dead. :-1

It happens more and more here in the U.S. also. :-1 I'll never understand it, especially how a parent could murder his/her own child no matter how desperate they are. Quite a few have blamed it on job loss. I still don't understand it whatsoever. I think sometimes a person is so upset over losing their children due to divorce. Still, I don't get it. I'd rather not see my children and know they are alive, than not see them and know I never would see them again.

You have to really wonder about the folks we entrust our saftey to, these days. All you seem to hear about is they can't be bothered to check things out..:(

Our lives could never be as desparate or doomed as to end it. I like to believe there is always hope and there is always help if you reach out to others. I don't understand what is in the minds of these folks who end their lives and their childrens lives.

In my life so far, I've known despair, but in my mind I keep the hope that tomorrow will be a better day. And it always is.

There have been awful similiar crimes here as well,Victoria.

If someone feels the need to take their own life, then that is their choice,no matter how sad it is,but to kill your own children as well is just atrocious.

I cant wrap my mind around it.

I can understand out of control anger and feeling hopeless or like your losing your mind at times but I cant understand not stopping yourself and walking away.

Important critical things are missing from the lives of people that follow through.

God, a family foundation, misdirected priorities, the emphasis on the wrong things etc.

A person should know when theyre building to the point of no return. Its a gradual climb.
