He's a son of the manse and so was corrupted at an early age. Presbytarian remember so they go in for a quiet religion with little outward show. You must admit He shows all the characteristics of a religious person-convinced he and only he has the right answer, can't admit to his mistakes.

Brown put a lot of work into this so deserves some credit if it is a success. Heaven only knows what it means in practice - I certainly don't - but it sounds like progress. Perhaps the most encouraging thing is that the finance ministers will be meeting again in Scotland in the autumn to check on things.

Perhaps the most encouraging thing is that the finance ministers will be meeting again in Scotland in the autumn to check on things. For weeks, the press have been reporting that the world is denouncing GB's rescue package. From what i have read last night, it seems all bollocks. In fact, GB announced last night that the world is hours away from signing his £trillion agreement. The only flies in the ointment seem to be Germany and France. However, that's more likely to be sour grapes that GB will get all the credit.

Sarkozy was very concerned to get regulation of hedge funds and do something about tax havens, which he seems to have got. Brown didn't get the immediate stimulus he wanted, but he's been on about global action for some time now and seems to be getting somewhere with it.

Yes and he's been on about creating a world banking regulative committee since his talks with Bush months ago. I think most of GB's proposals will get the go ahead.
