Please stay safe Mrs. K. and all of our Aussie friends. I've never experienced a cyclone

It must be terrifying. We have many bad hurricanes here.

I have a good friend who lives near Bundaberg, which is in the projected path of the cyclone Hamish, and I really hope that she will be OK, as she lives in the outback and is on her own, except for two German Shepherds, a cat, Kangaroos, snakes, lizards, etc. I looked at the latest projected map and it reckons that the category for her area has dropped to 3 from 4, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the direction doesn't change and swing the cyclone further onto the coast, like S or SSW.
I spoke to her Saturday evening at around midnight, and she was fine and in good spirits, and well aware of the situation.

Thanks Everyone :-4
Gill if your friend is inland she should be ok mostly get some rain I would think.
My sister lives a bit further down the coast & I am hoping it doesn't get that far.
Fingers crossed it goes out to sea.

Well checking the 'track map' latest estimation, Hamish seems to be moving more easterly, which will take it clear of a landfall. Also the strength is easing down to 3. I would think that my friend should be OK and that there will only be a fairly strong wind with rain. If Hamish continues eastwards, that will be good for all concerned, but if he should suddenly vear SW, the coasts will be in danger once more. Keeping fingers crossed for you Heather
