Extreme conditions of Australia
Ahe my northern friends okay i havent seen any info for NSW?
Extreme conditions of Australia
I watched a few clips of the fires, it looks terrifying and you have the daytime temperature to cope with as well. I'm glad you're still safe, I hope you stay that way.
"In Kinglake, north-west of Melbourne, one resident said the whole township was pretty much ablaze and that the fire front came through in a matter of minutes. He said that some 200 residents had taken refuge in a local pub".
Hunter Valley is ablaze, as far as NSW goes.
The local forecast here says we might go down to minus 14 degrees C tonight in exposed parts. I don't remember it ever being that cold in England.

I just phoned my friend in Victoria, her & the family are safe & well.
Another friend of ours has lost some stock but his family & home is safe.
He has just gone to meet the vet who has to put more of his burnt horses down.
My husband & son are at the south coast & there is a fire near them but they are Ok.
Nothing out this way will burn as there is no grass at all.
My thoughts are with all those people in the fires & floods.

MrsK where abouts on the south coast are your husband and son?
I made a mistake earlier (sorry a bit tired ) kinglake has not been wiped off the map ...it's was Marysville..........My heart goes out to all.
Umm there is some footage on one of the news sites of Marysville it was such a beautiful piece of countryside and a pretty town.
We have nine dead in Gippsland ............I think the number of dead is going to go beyond the 40 mark unfotunetly. They've had to bring in shipping containers to handle the numbers . And sadly, very sadly children are among them .
I do have a wonderful story though . There was a distress call from a woman who was panicked, and said fire had completely surrounded her house. When the police got there they thought they were coming upon a scene with a fatality. Dead animals everywhere the house gone the whole property just completely devastated. The guys almost had kittens when they heard her voice . She was sitting on the only patch of unburnt ground on the property with her dog. In complete shock of course. I don't know how much praying this woman did but it obviously worked because there is no reason why she should still be with us .
My town is safe now. The threat is being contained just nicely. My childrens schools are closed for a few days as they assess the damage around the towns.

I'm sorry to hear that things are getting so bad in Australia, it sounds like the situation is extremely bad in certain areas. I'm sorry to hear about your friend as well Fuzzy, just try and keep as cool as you can and away from any danger. Its being reported that the state of Victoria endured a temperature of 48.6 C at the worst location, and that 76 people have died in the bush fires. Best wishes to all the Aussies suffering over there, look after yourselves.
