And so its begun. The old President leaves office and the new President enters.
The first thing that happened so far, that I viewed, which brought the biggest smile to my face, was the arrival of the Obama's at the White House after the service at St John Episcopal Church.
Michelle came out of 'The Beast', the newest Presidental limo with all the bells and whistles, bearing a wrapped gift. It was a white box, approx 12" square and 3" high, bound with a red ribbon. She kissed Laura on the cheek and presented it to her.
This is something new in the traditional transition. No one else before has done this.
Everyone is wondering, what's in the box.........................

Inside the box was a leather bound journal and pen
so that Laura could begin writing her memoirs.
What a lovely gesture.

I would present her with exactly what George Bush has given the people of America.

It was so nice for Michelle to give a gift to Laura. I bet that becomes tradition for the first ladies in future transitions.

That is very sweet. I just got home, and the young girl in me wants to go find a picture of Mrs. Obama's dress for the ball........
