All this talk of snow.
I remember growing up
in Canada and heading down to the local park to play a pickup game of ice hockey. My brothers and I would we out there for hours in the cold. By the time we would get home our ears would be frozen and all red, almost stinging with the cold. Then the trick would be to sneak up behind one of us, and flick the back of the year. The feck’n pain was unreal.
Those were the days.

what took me back was the kids trying to warm their very cold hands by putting them under their arm pits and then taking them out again and blowing .i remember doing exactly that

us to, I had a few girl friends and we would always go out and play hockey with the boys.
Also tobogganing geeze piles of kids from the neighborhood would gather at the hill and the older kids would bring giant tire tubes and the bigger boys laid across the tubes and the kids all piled on, me and a few of the other girls were the smallest kids so we were litterally picked up and tossed up onto the pile of kids just before we were all pushed down the hill. Mass hysterics... so much fun and in all the years of doing this only one kid broke an arm.
Oiy thinking about it now hurts the old body ahahahaha

Watching my boys down at the park when it snows and going down the hill. They would stay there all day if their mittens & gloves didn't get wet. Bring them home for hot chocolate and throw their stuff in the dryer and back out they go. Remember doing all that myself....the good old days.

Watching my youngest play video games and remembering we were lucky to have 3 channels on the TV, and we had to actually dial the telephone.:sneaky:

our feet were freezing

I remember going ice skating at the reservoir and it was solid ice. My dad would make us wear newspaper inside our skates to keep our feet warm. Nowadays they won't let you skate there:mad:. But I do put newspaper in the kids boots when they go sledding.

What takes me back is the smell of a freshly opened box of crayons...I still like to smell them today.
