We have all that provided by the state. It comes out of our tax and National Insurance contributions. They're just not so quick to give it as they are to take it.

To be perfectly honest, in spite of everything, I never expected to have to make a claim. But here I am and it's not doing my blood pressure much good.

That's what I did and it's been turned down and I don't understand the reason they've given. I've got to appeal against the decision.

The reason given is that I didn't turn up on the specified date and time to sign my declaration. The reason I didn't turn up is because I'd found a job. I had sent the relevant form in to notify them. I have asked them to reconsider but I am also preparing to have a legal battle.

To be honest, I'm doing this out of principle since I won't get much even if I win due to my financial circumstances.

Perhaps you should have phoned them to cancel the appointment since you had found employment elsewhere is what they might say.

However, there should be no reason now with proof from that employer that they should disqualify you.

my eldest son is also employed, he took a job out of this field to help with the bills.

as he has one child he's not fussy right now until he goes back to his full time job in March, one is at a gas station, the other is at a movie theater.

and he is still eligible for unemployment insurance.
