Don't know for sure where else to put this, but current events seemed as good a place as any. It's a current event here in the garden, so it made sense.
Probably a few of you have seen the thread "Fascinating", and I'd like to address a couple things there along with a particular post.
First, the post I refer to is downright rude, misleading, and flat-out antagonistic. The member who wrote this has held on with both hands to an issue that had died out months ago. Since the instance that I speak of, I have responded to this member exactly once. (A momentary lapse of reason, happens to the best of us.) The "trouble" that the poster talks about is the fact that I have ignored her. Plain and simple. We had words, I added her to my "ignore" list and since becoming a moderator, removed her from that list, for the simple reason that it seems silly. I don't respond to her anyway. Now said member is jumping on a two-person band wagon to smear me. I apparently am coming across as a power-hungry, vindictive warden type. Well, let's clear things up:
I have reason to be leary of a certain poster. Those reasons have been communicated in private and I don't feel the need to publicize them to every member. If someone thinks I am being too harsh, by all means, let me know. I have very thick skin, contrary to popular opinion.
The fact that I am a moderator means very little. I have the "power" to edit and delete posts in certain areas, something I have never done. Being a moderator is my way of contributing to the forum that I enjoy so much. If I have abused this awesome power, I'd sure like to hear about it.
I don't believe that I have over-stepped any bounds in my responses to anyone, and if I have, I will hear about it from the administrators. Which I would expect regardless of being a mod or not. That position in no way changes how I respond to anything. Neither does someone other than administration telling me I am out of line.
