I just watched the opening of the World Series and the Back Street Boys destroy the National Anthem with some acapella rendition taking twice a long as normal with their absurd stylizing. Does it annoy anyone else when these so called artists have to take the Anthem and turn it into a rock, R&B, Hip Hop or some other musical disaster.

Leave it alone, if you can't sing it as intended, just go away.

Yes. Please would they hire a professional! I'm also bummed that Boston is not up against the Phillies. Don't go there!

I agree. There is nothing wrong with the national anthem in it's original form.

Totally agree. I can't even watch the Super Bowl with the bad singers...unless it's a good band like Tom Petty:wah:

Not at all...

If it's long and not a woman singing it then I get irritated to hell.

But people should be free to do as they wish...My only precursor to that is that the consequence of peoples' actions not only be swift and decisive but molded around prevention and not punishment...

Yeah, they are always at that, with the whooping and the hollering and all of that nonsense.

I remember the Simpsons did a piece where they are watching the superbowl or the world series or one of those things, and the fella comes on to sing the star spangled banner and goes on for about 30 minutes whooping and jiving off it, they all fall asleep, very funny.

My advice, next time, get an opera singer to sing it properly, not the back street boys.

Do you mean Whitney Houston?

Or Lift Every Voice and Sing?

Destiny's Child did a good rendition ... until the end.

I agree. Sing it as it was intended. I hate when people mess with it, it sounds stupid.

As long as the anthem is sung well with respect and reverance, who cares? The people of this country are diverse in style and interpretation. IMO
