My point being Ive yet to hear the same kind of pissing and moaning about the cost of the war.

Im not an economist, I barely get the intricacies of wold politics and quite honestly I dont know how to fix anything.

What I do know is that at some point we have to get our own ducks lined up in a row.

Whats wrong with taking care of ourselves for a change ?

The Federal govt. may not have been set up as a welfare state but isnt that what we are for the rest of the world ?

We grant $ all over the world for countries that need something from us but I fail to see the problem with keeping our own needs intact.

By what criteria was the invasion of Iraq legitimate?

By what criteria was the invasion of Afghanistan legitimate?

When ordinary people take over and nationalise everything that is socialism when an elite takes over and nationalises everything for it's own benefit that is fascism. Is america in danger of sleepwalking in to becoming a fascist state?:sneaky:

It wasnt by any degree.

I dont get the sense that people are concerned or feel an urgency about all the $ were spending on keeping Bushs war alive and that puzzles me.

Yet when it comes to keeping our own infrastructure sound everyone has an opinion.

Is it perhaps the reality of discussing the iraq war is one of facing up to the fact your were conned by your elected leaders, who you have been brought up to respect and trust, and it raises the issue that perhaps america is not quite the knight in shining armour you like to believe. Much easier to dismiss opposition as unamerican and ignore foreign opinion as simply anti-american rather than think about it.

If you had made a fictional film of events over the last seven years it would fail at the box office due to an unbelievable story line.
