Got home from work last night at about 11:30pm.
Driving up to our house & there is a man walking in the middle of the road.
He is dressed in black from head to toe.Doesn't even attempt to get of the road so I have to swerve around him & so does the car behind me.
I am to hyped up to go to sleep so I watch the Tv & then our dog starts to bark.
The barking goes on & on,very unusual for him to be like that.
I go outside & there are police people walking around the street.
They park in front of the neighbours house beside us.
The neighbours are away. The police shine their spotlight all around the house & yard.
Our dog is still barking,We are out out looking, the dog comes up to me & quietens.
The police ask if we have seen anything unusual I told them about the man on the street.
Our dog is beside me but still growling every now & then.
The police do another search with their spotlight. We go inside.
Our dog barks on & of for a little while & then quietens.
I am wide awake now & no hope of sleep.
Another neighbour comes over this morning & we are chatting about the events of the night & he saw the same fellow dressed in black.
He said he knew something was up when he heard our dog going off.
My husband is playing golf with one of the coppers today, so he will ask him what eventually happened.
Be nice to know.
Who says there is no excitement in the bush.

Do you lock your doors, young lady?

All dressed in black - probably a hoody (Zip up front sweatshirt)
Bad news from the get go...
The guy was wandering from house to house - or car to car..??
Everyone should be very very careful - these are hard times - people are getting desperate. even the drugies feel the crunch...
I don't wear all my jewelery on a daily basis as I once did...
I had a guy in line at a store tell me - your likely to get your finger cut off for that ring... I glared at him eye to eye and said
you'll die trying dude ....
If your dog is barking and that's unusual
a man dressed all in black - that's unusual
you be very careful coming home - especially at night..
When you leave - dog goes inside? leave lights on - leave the TV or radio on
Lock everything up as tight as a drum.
Do you have a alarm system? I do - I have extra locks on doors and extra locks on windows - I don't leave my driveway until that garage door in completely down.
I lived alone for many years after my husband died - I have noise makers on all my doors. meaning - a string of bells hanging over all door knobs.
Different bells for back door & front door, plus my security system rings when a door is opened.
I'm not paranoid
there's never enough protection
be careful
God Bless
Patsy

I wouldn't have slept a wink after something like that. Having a dog is a comfort though. They always let you know if something's not right.
As soon as I saw this man all done out in black I was very suspicious.
When he wouldn't move of the road I was really thinking this is some weirdo here.
It was all very strange .:-6

If it was the person the police was looking for he was'nt a very good cat burglar,
He was probably seen by half the ruddy neighbourhood. :wah:
Glad you're safe and well, that's all that matters. :yh_flower

He was just walking & looking into peoples yards but I though it weird that he was so far on the road, maybe he was trying not to look suspicious.I don't know.
I wish golf would hurry up & finish though so I can hear what my husband found out.

We put on some more locks today ,I really hate having to do all this stuff.I always felt safe in this town & I hate to think we are losing that special thing.

Sounds like that guy was 'off his head' probably with drugs! When people are like that, there is no knowing how they will react in a situation, and there is no knowing how to approach them, consequently. The police are the only ones who should deal with them - they are better equipped to deal with contingencies, and they have stab vests on, and they can call for back-up. What a sad, nasty world is upon us all. Is there nowhere safe? I doubt it. The only thing we can do is be very vigilant, careful and security conscious. No it's not paranoia, it's common sense and taking as many precautions as is physically possible, in an ever-increasingly violent and unpredictable world.
Stay safe !

Let us know what hubby found out.
I am also glad you and your neighbors are safe. Unfortunatley, we all have to be on guard, especially at night. I live in the country and when I am home alone, I do not answer the door. Unless I know and trust the person. Even during the daylight hours.
A man dressed in black at night should only be the ghost of Johnny Cash.

Well this place was in lock down last night till my husband got home.
There have been a few 18/20 year olds around town drunk & going into peoples homes & stealing things from houses that aren't locked up.
Apparently these scum go to any parties/clubs that are going on see who won't be home & then go to their homes & break in. Creeps.
Sad part is they have to be locals to know whose who.
It is just starting to warm up here, lovely spring days & nights, people start opening up their houses & going out more, leaving windows open etc.
I have been guilty of doing the same thing ,we have never had to worry before .
Like Patsy said desperate times & I am sad to say they have reached us out here in the middle of nowhere.
Very sad indeed.
No arrests were made,so we are all on the lookout now.
That is a good thing that we are all aware of what is going on.

It is desperate times...................we never leave our windows open at night here in the summer, accept higher up ones...........still on the main floor......like cops told me years ago, no robbber is gonna carry a ladder with him.
-but that even scares me, only takes 2 guys, one just holds the other one up while breaking in!
love my 'beware of dog signs'---------but if someone is staking the place out.....they also know better!
tough times!
one day I will explain what people did to us, a story no one should have to live through!
p.s..............watch your neighbours to......they do not always appear to be who you think they are!

What a shame when poeple can't feel safe in their own home. I'm very happy to say I have no neighbors and have a home security system. I also have 2 dogs that will bark when they hear anything. I also have beware of dog signs posted. I'm glad you are safe mrsK but sorry you have to live being afraid to leave even your windows open.

Good thing none of you guys were hurt by this stranger. I can't believe you didn't call the police right away and told them what you saw. Sounds like someone in the neighborhood did.

An underage kid 17yrs old

and a male adult about 35 have been talked to by the police.
No charges have been laid as yet.
If it is them at least they will now know they are being watched.
