I'm getting some early reports that there a lot of gulf states shelters

in the possible path of "Hurricane" Gustav that are planning on

euthanizing shelter animals before the storm hits. Please, if you live

in those states or know someone who does, think about what you

can do to save a life. I know it might be tough due to circumstances

but there's just got to be a way.

Some shelters don't adopt to the public, so if you are familiar with

any rescue groups, maybe give 'em a call.

Hurricane Gustav

Best Friends Animal Society reached Louisiana on Thursday, and has been working around the clock to ready the area. First we assisted other groups in moving hundreds of animals out of the New Orleans area to safety.

Then we shipped in THOUSANDS of pet crates. As residents were fleeing the area, most have been allowed to take their animals as long as they were crated. We discovered that so many did not have crates, so we shipped them in.

As soon as the immediate danger of Gustav passes, our first responders will respond to calls of animals in danger, while assessing the situation and calling for volunteers and more help as needed.
