I haven't heard of anything like that. But how would you respond to a compliment on the jewel. Ohh that's my great aunt Edna. Bizarre!

Actually, I did hear of this several years ago...seems like maybe 10 years ago??
Anyway, I thought it was macabre, but I forgot all about it until I read your post. I don't know what company does this though. Search the web (what do you look for..."Diamonds from the Dead" ?)

Really good comments about the subject. I wouldn't do it, when someone leaves us they are gone & not coming back. This may be of interest to a young person maybe losing a mother? Thats how i feel. How can one be sure the ashes used were not from the person before?

Oiy a grim but true thought. Good point Paula. Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, and let the loved ones go back to the earth and rest in Peace.

OK....I'm speechless. I'm wavering between thinking this is cool, and thinking it's weird and grisly.

I think this is cool! Here's why: My fiance and I have had the conversation about what will happen when one or the other of us dies. (Depressing, but neccessary) If Matt goes first, he wants a huge party. He wants to be cremated, and have the urn strapped to his bike, ridden by me to the party and everyone happy and getting crazy. I'll have a locket made to put some of the ashes in, the rest to be scattered somewhere he has not decided yet.
I'd much rather have the stone to wear, and if someone were to come to me and compliment me on it, I'd tell them exactly what it was! I think it's a great idea, and I'd do it in a heartbeat.

We had something on FG about this a while back but unfortunately I
can't seem to find it.
It's apparently still a pretty expensive process, in the thousands, but
I think I would do it. I think I remember hearing that you can get colors
and that would be cool, colored real diamonds being so expensive...
Let's see... something in blue, perhaps?

Being a Virgo, (Cautious, Curious, "Skeptical") I have some reservations on/if this so called "process" is really valid. I read the links above, and yes I believe you will get a diamond, for the great deal of money they want. That they know you will pay, because it is supposed to be a part of your loved one. I would have to witness for myself the entire process from ashes to diamond to belive it! :-2

I'm with you cars! Being a fellow virgo, one must beg the question, if it was so easy to do, then why dont they do it with the rest of the worlds ash heaps? I mean really! Why stop at at deceased relatives? Why not pets or even burnt houses? Personally I have to go along with Carlas sig! yelling WOO HOO what a ride! :driving:
