The other half has been offered a job out there and we're just waiting on the details. Depending on salary (it's got to be good to be worth it) we could be out there pretty soon. :guitarist

I'm thinking how nice it would be to study all the things that I want to full-time and not have to work...especially studying in the sunshine!!!:-6

Hopefully in the next couple of days! He's asking for more details at the mo, but the offer has come from a friend that he worked with in London that now lives out there, so it sounds fairly solid. I'm getting so excited!!! Must stop myself from bouncing around too much in case it doesn't happen. I really hope it does though!!!:-6

It is a muslim country, but Dubai is very westernised, so you don't have to wear anything you don't want to. Obviously you might if you go out into the sticks, but then if you move somewhere different, you honour their ways, which is fair enough.

Oh thats actually interesting. Ive read about how shelf space is make or break and how competitors will pay a premium for shelf space at just the right heighth and location in the store.

It's just something I'm thinking of if it works out that way - I'd like to do a bit more with classical/ancient history and get as far as I can with it. If I didn't have to work then I'd like to get my MA and then PhD. Of course, if we stay put, then I probably won't!

Yeah, I'm still at it! I'm still on hols for another two weeks yet though and then it's back to the grindstone!

HI Pinky My sister lived in Dubai for about a year and she loved it:-6 make sure you dont fall fowl of the law ther though:sneaky:dont think they are as lenient as ours:wah: My sis husband went out to get milk, came back about 4 hours later my sis was livid,, then he explained he had been in the cells while they checked on who he was and who he worked for cos he had parked his car outside of some sort of Embassy building!:wah: poor thing was terrified:-3 sorry dont want to scare you ,, they actually loved it there and felt quite safe:D

I think I might stick to walking then, lol! I know there are certain laws which have to be adhered to, but I think I'll be alright! I know you can't have alchohol at home or walk home a bit squiffed up, but that's probably going to be a good thing! As long as I can still smoke, I'll be happy. I have to keep one vice going after all!:wah:

Oh bless...I'm lucky, everything I need is already there and all the prep is on my USB drive ready to go! We get a 'training day' first day back too, which is a good excuse to sort out any bits and pieces!

An old university buddy of mine works for the firm that designed Burj Dubai... which is already the tallest free-standing structure in the world and is still under construction.

If it's not enough, then it's not worth doing, as a two bed apartment costs over a grand a month, so it's got to be a fair whack. Put it this way, I'm not moving into anything resembling the proverbial sh1thole, lol!

However, if we're offered a decent whack and accommodation allowance, then I'll be off faster than a whippet after a sausage!:wah:
